2019–20 Uganda Premier League
The 2019–20 Uganda Premier League was the 53rd season of the Uganda Premier League, the top-tier football league in Uganda. The season was abruptly ended on 20 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic with Vipers SC declared as champions. Matches were suspended on March 18 with more than 75 percent league matches already held. Participating teams The 2019–20 Uganda Premier League is being contested by 16 teams. Nyamityobora FC, Ndejje University, and Paidha Black Angels were relegated to the FUFA Big League from the 2018–19 Uganda Premier League season. They were replaced by Proline, winners of the Rwenzori group, Wakiso Giants, winners of the Elgon group, and playoff winners Kyetume. Kirinya-Jinja SS were renamed as Busoga United FC. Some of the Kampala clubs may on occasions also play home matches at the Mandela National Stadium. Uganda Premier League
The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The league's roots date back to 1968 when the National First Division League was established. History Original concept The genesis of club football in Uganda was an idea copied from England by Balamaze Lwanga and Polycarp Kakooza. The objective was to improve Uganda's performances in the Africa Cup of Nations after disappointing results in the finals in 1962 (fourth-place finish) and 1968 (lost all three group stage matches), both held in Ethiopia. Bright Stars FC
Bright Stars FC, also Bright Stars, is a Ugandan football club based in Matugga, Uganda. They play in the top division of Ugandan football, the Ugandan Super League. In September 2017, it was announced that Japan International Keisuke Honda, through his management company called Honda Estilo, bought a controlling interest in the club. History Bright Stars were founded in 1997. They were promoted to the Uganda Super League after winning the FUFA Big League in 2012-13. John Kayanja was the coach who led the Stars to the Super League. For their inaugural top flight season in 2013-14 Bright Stars turned to Livingstone Mbabazi to coach the team. Bright Stars flirted with relegation but finished in 12th place, two spots above the drop. Kakyeka Stadium
Kakyeka Stadium is the main City sports Arena or Stadium In Mbarara City in Western Region, Uganda. The Stadium is in the West side of the main city and it has the capacity of 1,500 people. It is currently used as the home ground for Mbarara City FC, a football Club playing in Uganda's top league Uganda Premier League. In 2016, the government of Uganda had a plan to be improve all stadia in every Region and the new Kakyeka was to be constructed on another big in piece of land in Mbarara. In 2020, the Ministry of Sports gave out 10 million shillings to the Municipal council to redevelop it, but later on the Turkish investors pulled out of the interest. Mbarara City is a city in the Western Region of Uganda and the second largest city in Uganda after Kampala. Mbarara City FC
Mbarara City FC is a football club in Mbarara City, Uganda. The team plays in the top division of Ugandan professional football, the Star Times Uganda Premier League where they have been participating since 5 May 2017, after defeating Synergy FC in the FUFA Big League Play Offs, and the club uses Kakyeka Stadium as their home hosting grounds. Mbarara City FC has more fans than any other team in the Western Region of Uganda. History The club was founded in 2010 as ''Citizens FC'', after the management of Citizens High School in Mbarara decided to create a team to play in mature competitions and help in nurturing football at the school. Kampala Capital City Authority FC
Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (Abbreviated as KCCA FC) and also known as Kampala City , is a Ugandan football club based in Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. Kampala City Council was rebranded to Kampala Capital City Authority and the club title has been changed accordingly. Express FC
Express Football Club, abbreviated as Express, is a Ugandan football club from Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. The club play their home games at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium. History Express FC is popularly referred to by the club fans as the Red Eagles and has also been known as the Express Sports Club. The club is one of the oldest football clubs in Uganda, having been founded in October 1957 by managers of the Uganda Express Newspapers. Jinja, Uganda
Jinja is a city in the Eastern Region of Uganda, located on the North shores of Lake Victoria. Location Jinja is in Jinja District, Busoga sub-region, in the Eastern Region of Uganda.
