2019 Galway Senior Football Championship
The 2019 Galway Senior Football Championship is the 124th edition of Galway GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Galway, Ireland. The winners receive the Frank Fox Cup and represent Galway in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. Eighteen teams compete. This year there will be a new format once again. With the previous years 4 semi finalists being seeded and separated into 3 groups of 6(With one group having 2 seeded teams) Corofin were the defending champions after they defeated Mountbellew/Moylough in the 2018 final. This was An Spidéal's return the senior grade for the first time in 13 seasons (since their relegation from the S.F.C. in 2006) after they claimed to 2018 I.F.C. title. Killererin GAA
Killererin ( ga, Cill Fhir Iarainn) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Tuam area in County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. A Gaelic football club, Killererin fields underage teams up to U-16s play in the Galway league and championships. History Founded in 1889, the club was originally named Killererin John Dillon's. Competing for much of the 20th century in the junior grade, the club won its first county junior championship title in 1968. Promoted to senior grade, the club won the Galway Senior Football Championship in 1976. The club went on to win several club titles, and won its sixth county title defeating Corofin in October 2010. CLG Naomh Anna, Leitir Moir is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Gaeltacht area of Leitir Móir, County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. The Connacht Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between senior clubs in Connacht, with one qualifying from each of the five individual county championships. The winners of the Connacht football championship qualify for the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament which began in season 1970–71. It is the top-tier competition for the senior football clubs of Ireland and London. The current champions are Kilcoo of Down who defeated Kilmacud Crokes of Dublin on 12 February 2022 to win their first title. The current trophy is the Andy Merrigan Cup, named after a footballer who played for Castletown Liam Mellows and Wexford who died as a result of a farm accident at the height of his playing career. The winners receive the Frank Fox Cup and represent Galway in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. Twenty teams compete. This year there will be a new format. With the previous years 4 semi finalists being seeded and separated into 4 groups of 5 Corofin were the defending champions after they defeated Mountbellew/Moylough in the 2017 final. This was Claregalways's return the senior grade after a 4 year exodus (they were relegated from the S.F.C. in 2013) when claiming the 2017 I.F.C. title. Corofin retained their title with a win in a final replay over Mountbellew/Moylough. This was Corofin's sixth title in a row. 2020 Galway Senior Football Championship
The 2020 Galway Senior Football Championship is the 125th edition of Galway GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Galway, Ireland. The winners receive the Frank Fox Cup but will not represent Galway in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship, which was cancelled for 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games. Eighteen teams compete in the competition. This year's format was originally planned to mirror last year's format with the draw being carried out in February 2020. However due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the format was altered to reduce the number of matches to be played. A new draw was made on 3 July 2020 to compensate for these changes. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe) or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Corofin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Corofin, County Galway, Ireland. The club serves the two parishes of Cummer and Kilmoylan and Belclare. Corofin are the 2019–20 All-Ireland Club Champions, after winning their third-successive All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship final by defeating Kilcoo of Down in January 2020. Tuam Stadium
St Jarlath's Park (''Páirc Naomh Iarflaith'', commonly known as Tuam Stadium) is a GAA stadium in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. It is one of the principal stadiums of Galway GAA's football teams. The ground once had a capacity of around 26,000. This has progressively been reduced for safety reasons and has most recently been reduced to 6,700. The official opening of the stadium took place on 21 May 1950. It was blessed and officially opened by the Archbishop of Tuam, Rev. Dr Walsh.
