2020 Galway Senior Football Championship
The 2020 Galway Senior Football Championship is the 125th edition of Galway GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for senior graded clubs in County Galway, Ireland. The winners receive the Frank Fox Cup but will not represent Galway in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship, which was cancelled for 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games. Eighteen teams compete in the competition. This year's format was originally planned to mirror last year's format with the draw being carried out in February 2020. However due to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the format was altered to reduce the number of matches to be played. A new draw was made on 3 July 2020 to compensate for these changes. Corofin GAC, Corofin were the defending champions for the sixth consecutive year after they defeated Tuam Stars after a replay in the 2019 final. The Galway Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in Galway. The winners of the Galway Championship qualify to represent their county in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which go on to the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Mícheál Breathnach CLG
Mícheál Breathnach is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Galway, Republic of Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. Underage teams up to U-16's play in the Galway league and championships while further age groups compete in their respective competitions. Na Breathnaigh compete in the Galway Senior Football Championship yet they have not won the competition in their history. Na Breathnaigh's Hurling squad represent Ireland in the Iomain Cholmcille shinty/hurling international for Irish language, Gaelic speakers. They have defeated the Scots Gaelic team, Alba (shinty club), Alba, twice in 2007 and 2008. They faced Alba again on 13 February 2010 in Portree but were defeated. St James' GAA (Galway)
St James' is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Doughiska area of the city of Galway in Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. Underage teams up to U-16's play in the Galway league and championships while they compete at higher levels as well. The club has had much success in recent years winning back to back Minor A County Championships in 2006 & 2007, as well as two Minor A West Board titles in the same years. They finished top of the Minor League in 2006. At Intermediate level, the club narrowly missed out on the 2006 and 2009 county titles. These victories indicated the future was certainly bright for the club, and in 2010, won the Galway Intermediate Championship, beating An Spidéal in the final, and also defeating Carna-Caiseal in the semi-finals, after two replays. Killanin GAA
Killannin is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. The club is one of 18 teams competing in the Senior Championship in Galway. Their best result in the competition came in 2000, where they reached the final, losing out narrowly to Corofin.
