2019 Capital Football Season
The 2019 Capital Football season saw a new competition format for the top two men’s divisions in the Australian Capital Territory. The Capital League (former second division) became linked to the National Premier League (first division) with the introduction of a two-step plan to establish promotion and relegation between the two divisions, as well as a re-branding of both divisions to National Premier League 1 (NPL1) and National Premier League 2 (NPL2). The NPL1 Premier qualified for the 2019 National Premier Leagues#Finals, 2019 National Premier Leagues final series and the Capital Football Federation Cup, Federation Cup winner qualified for the 2019 FFA Cup. 2019 National Premier Leagues Capital Football Re-branded NPL1 in 2019, this was the ACT’s highest senior men’s division. Capital Football
Capital Football is the trading name for the ACT Football Federation Incorporated, the state governing body for association football, soccer in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), but also has affiliated clubs based in surrounding areas of New South Wales. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the national governing body. History Capital Football was founded in the 1960s as the ''ACT Soccer Federation Incorporated''. The organisation replaced the defunct ''Federal Capital Territory Soccer Football Association'' which controlled soccer in the ACT between 1926 and 1932 and the ''Federal Monaro District Soccer Association'' which lasted two years (1932–33). Monaro Panthers FC (formerly known as Inter Monaro SC) is an Australian association football club based in the city of Queanbeyan, New South Wales. The club was founded in 1967, and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football in the Australian Capital Territory. West Canberra Wanderers Football Club, previously known as Woden-Weston FC is a semi-professional football club based in Canberra, Australia. The club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football. Wagga City Wanderers is a semi-professional Australian association football club based in the city of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. Queanbeyan City Football Club is an Australian amateur association football club based in the NSW city of Queanbeyan, Australia. The club was founded in 1966 and currently competes in ACT competitions including the ACT Capital League. History The club was established in 1966 as ''Queanbeyan Makedonia'' by Done Dimov, Angelo Hadzis and Vic Tsalakos. The club registered with the ACT Soccer Federation on 17 March 1966 and entered the ACT Second Division. However, Hungaria was forced to fold and Queanbeyan was chosen to replace the club in the first division. The Lions spent a number of years in the first division with the club finishing runner-up in the league in both 1969 and 1970. Canberra White Eagles FC (commonly known simply as White Eagles) is an Australian amateur association football club based in the Woden Valley region of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. Founded in 1992 by the Canberra Serbian community, the club currently competes in the Capital Premier League competition. History The Beginning The club was officially formed in 1992. Previously a number of Serbian teams existed but only for short spells, including the likes of Farrer United, Mawson Serbia and most recently Canberra United which ceased in 1990.
