2018–19 Curling World Cup
The 2018–19 Curling World Cup was the first edition of the Curling World Cup, held between men's, women's, and mixed doubles teams. It had three legs and a Grand Final, taking place in Suzhou, China, Omaha, United States, Jönköping, Sweden, and Beijing, China respectively. Format Curling World Cup matches have eight ends, rather than the standard ten ends. Ties after eight ends are decided by a shoot-out, with each team throwing a stone and the one closest to the button winning. A win in eight or fewer ends earns a team 3 points, a shoot-out win 2 points, a shoot-out loss 1 point, and 0 points for a loss in eight or fewer ends. Each event has eight teams in the men's, women's, and mixed doubles tournament. The teams are split into two groups of four, based on the Curling World Cup rankings, whereby the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th, ranked teams are in one group and the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th ranked teams in the other. 2018–19 Curling World Cup – Third Leg
The Third Leg of the 2018–19 Curling World Cup took place from January 30 to February 3, 2019 at the Jönköping Curling Club in Jönköping, Sweden. Korea's Kim Min-ji (curler), Kim Min-ji defeated Sweden's Anna Hasselborg in the women's final. Canada's Matt Dunstone defeated Sweden's Niklas Edin in the men's final. Canada's Kadriana Sahaidak and Colton Lott beat Norway's Kristin Skaslien and Thomas Ulsrud for mixed doubles gold. Matt Dunstone
Matthew Dunstone, nicknamed "the Sheriff" (born June 25, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Kamloops, British Columbia. Career Dunstone won the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 2013. He represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, where he won the bronze medal. He was unable to defend his championship at the 2014 Canadian Juniors after losing in the finals of the Manitoba Canola Juniors to Braden Calvert. The next time he would represent Manitoba was in 2016, after winning the 2016 Manitoba Canola Juniors. This earned the Dunstone rink a spot in the 2016 Canadian Juniors where he won his second title after defeating Northern Ontario 11-4 in the final, and represented Canada at the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships, winning a bronze medal. Kaitlyn Lawes
Lesley Kaitlyn Lawes (born December 16, 1988) is a Canadian curler. Lawes was the long time third for the Jennifer Jones team that represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics where they won the gold medal. They were the first women's team to go through the Olympics undefeated and the first Manitoba based curling team to win at the Olympics. Lawes curled with John Morris in the mixed doubles event at the 2018 Winter Olympics where they won gold. This win made her and Morris the first Canadian curlers to win two Olympic gold medals, and Lawes was the first to win gold in two consecutive Olympics. Lawes was a member of the world champion team as a third at the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, where the team went through the event undefeated. Sven Michel
Sven Michel (born 30 March 1988) is a Swiss curler from Matten. He won a gold medal for Switzerland at the 2013 European Curling Championships and skipped Switzerland at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Career As a junior curler, Michel won the bronze medal at the 2007 World Junior Curling Championships, playing third for Christian von Gunten. Michel won a silver medal at the 2010 European Mixed Curling Championship, playing second for Claudio Pätz. Michèle Jäggi
Michèle Jäggi (born 22 September 1987) is a Swiss curler. Jäggi has represented Switzerland as a junior curler, and is currently active on the World Curling Tour. Jäggi currently skips her own team. Career Jäggi is a former Swiss junior champion. She first appeared on the international scene at the World Junior Curling Championships in 2006, finishing in fourth place after losing in the semifinals and the bronze medal game. She returned to the World Junior Curling Championships two years after, but failed to make the playoffs, finishing in sixth place. Johan Niklas Edin (born 6 July 1985) is a Swedish curler. He currently resides in Karlstad, which has been his curling home base since 2008. He holds several sport distinctions. He is the first and the only skip in World Curling Federation (WCF) history to win three Olympic medals – gold (2022), silver (2018), and bronze (2014) – and to skip men's curling teams to six World Men's Curling Championship medals (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). Silvana Petra Tirinzoni (born 25 June 1979) is a Swiss curler from Zurich. She is currently the reigning women's world champion skip having won the last three championships, in 2019, 2021 and . Tirinzoni also represented Switzerland at the 2022 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Olympics, after winning the 2017 Swiss Olympic Curling Trials. Colton Lott
Colton Lott (born July 21, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba. He currently plays second on Team Matt Dunstone, and also curls with Kadriana Lott in mixed doubles. Career Juniors Lott's first curling success came with representing Manitoba at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, where he won a bronze medal, playing third for the team, which was skipped by Kyle Doering. This same team won the Manitoba Junior championship in 2012, and represented the province at the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Kadriana Sahaidak
Kadriana Lott (born May 12, 1999 as Kadriana Sahaidak) is a Canadian curler from Gimli, Manitoba. She is best known for playing mixed doubles curling with partner Colton Lott, who she has won three medals with at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. She also plays lead on Team Darcy Robertson in women's curling. Career Mixed doubles Lott has found success in mixed doubles with husband Colton Lott. Their first competitive event was the 2018 Manitoba Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, which they won, giving them a berth in the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.
