The Curling World Cup was a curling tournament that was held as part of the 2018–19 curling season, organized by the World Curling Federation and Kingdomway Sports. 2018–19 Curling World Cup – Third Leg
The Third Leg of the 2018–19 Curling World Cup took place from January 30 to February 3, 2019 at the Jönköping Curling Club in Jönköping, Sweden. Korea's Kim Min-ji (curler), Kim Min-ji defeated Sweden's Anna Hasselborg in the women's final. Canada's Matt Dunstone defeated Sweden's Niklas Edin in the men's final. Canada's Kadriana Sahaidak and Colton Lott beat Norway's Kristin Skaslien and Thomas Ulsrud for mixed doubles gold. Format Curling World Cup matches have eight ends, rather than the standard ten ends. Ties after eight ends will be decided by a shoot-out, with each team throwing a stone and the one closest to the button winning. A win in eight or fewer ends will earn a team 3 points, a shoot-out win 2 points, a shoot-out less 1 point, and 0 points for a loss in eight or fewer ends. Masters (curling)
The Masters is a Grand Slam event on the men's and women's World Curling Tour. It is the second Grand Slam event and first major on the women's and men's tour. The event is an amalgamation of the men's World Cup of Curling and the women's Sun Life Classic. There was also a men's Sun Life Classic, which has been discontinued. The Sun Life Classic was an annual WCT event (but not a Grand Slam event) held every November at the Paris Curling Club, Brant Curling Club and the Brantford Golf & Country Club in the Brantford, Ontario area. The World Cup was a Grand Slam event and was held in various locations across Canada, and was also previously known as the Masters. The first incarnation of the event with both men and women was held in 2012 at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and the Brantford Golf & Country Club in Brantford, Ontario. Satsuki Fujisawa
is a Japanese curler from Kitami, Hokkaido. As a skip, she has won the Japanese national championship six times. Fujisawa skipped the bronze medal-winning Japanese team at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and the silver medal-winning team at the 2022 Winter Olympics. She is currently the skip of the Loco Solare curling team. Career Fujisawa's junior career began with a championship at the 2008 Pacific Junior Curling Championships over China's Sun Yue. This qualified her and her Japanese team for the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships, where they finished seventh with a 3–6 record. Colton Lott
Colton Lott (born July 21, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba. He currently plays second on Team Matt Dunstone, and also curls with Kadriana Lott in mixed doubles. Career Juniors Lott's first curling success came with representing Manitoba at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, where he won a bronze medal, playing third for the team, which was skipped by Kyle Doering. This same team won the Manitoba Junior championship in 2012, and represented the province at the 2012 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, the team posted a 9-3 round robin record, won a tiebreaker, and then settled for the bronze medal, after losing to Northern Ontario in the semifinal. Kadriana Sahaidak
Kadriana Lott (born May 12, 1999 as Kadriana Sahaidak) is a Canadian curler from Gimli, Manitoba. She is best known for playing mixed doubles curling with partner Colton Lott, who she has won three medals with at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. She also plays lead on Team Darcy Robertson in women's curling. Career Mixed doubles Lott has found success in mixed doubles with husband Colton Lott. Their first competitive event was the 2018 Manitoba Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, which they won, giving them a berth in the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. Magnus Nedregotten
Magnus Victor Nedregotten (born 24 October 1990) is a Norwegian curler from Oslo. He currently plays third on Team Steffen Walstad. Career Juniors Nedregotten represented Norway in three World Junior Curling Championships. At the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships he played lead for the Steffen Mellemseter. The team would finish in 5th place. At the 2011 World Junior Curling Championships he played second for the team, which would win a bronze medal. Kristin Moen Skaslien (born 18 January 1986) is a Norwegian curler from Fornebu. She currently throws fourth stones on Team Marianne Rørvik. She was lead for the Norwegian team at the 2009 Mount Titlis World Women's Curling Championship in Gangneung, Korea, the 2010 Ford World Women's Curling Championship in Swift Current, Canada. the 2011 Capital One World Women's Curling Championship in Esbjerg, Denmark and the 2015 World Women's Curling Championship in Sapporo, Japan. Kirk Muyres
Kirk Lyle Muyres (born June 29, 1990) is a Canadian curler. He is a former Canadian junior champion. Career Juniors As a youth, Muyres was a member of the Saskatchewan team at the 2007 Canada Winter Games, where he played 5th. For much of his junior career, Muyres played third for the Josh Heidt rink. The team played in their first provincial men's championship in 2010 when Muyres was just 19. The team won one game in the event. After the season, Muyres left the team to play for the Braeden Moskowy rink at third. The team won the Saskatchewan Junior championships that year, earning the rink the right to represent Saskatchewan at the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Laura Walker (curler)
Laura Walker (born November 19, 1990 as Laura Crocker) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. She is a two-time Canadian University champion, a national junior champion, world junior silver medallist and world mixed doubles bronze medallist. Walker is originally from Scarborough, Ontario. Career Juniors Walker began her junior curling career as a skip. In 2008, her Scarboro Golf & Country Club rink made it to the Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships, provincial junior championships where her team finished with a 2–5 record. In 2010, Walker was invited to join the Rachel Homan junior rink at the second position. Matt Dunstone
Matthew Dunstone, nicknamed "the Sheriff" (born June 25, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Kamloops, British Columbia. Career Dunstone won the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 2013. He represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, where he won the bronze medal. He was unable to defend his championship at the 2014 Canadian Juniors after losing in the finals of the Manitoba Canola Juniors to Braden Calvert. The next time he would represent Manitoba was in 2016, after winning the 2016 Manitoba Canola Juniors. This earned the Dunstone rink a spot in the 2016 Canadian Juniors where he won his second title after defeating Northern Ontario 11-4 in the final, and represented Canada at the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships, winning a bronze medal.
