2018 South American Rugby League Cup
The 2018 South American Rugby League Championship will be held in São Paulo, Brazil and is going to be held on the 23rd to the 25th of November 2018. The tournament is the inaugural South American Championship. The teams participating in the tournament are Brazil, Argentina and Colombia. The South American Cup also includes a women's international between the Brazilian women's team and Argentinian women's team and a second division game between Brazil and Argentina, as well as an Under-17's match between Brazil and Argentina. The nation made its international debut at the inaugural Latin American Rugby League Championship held in Los Ángeles, Chile in November 2017, losing to the hosts in their first international match. 2022 South American Rugby League Championship
The 2022 South American Rugby League Championship was the fourth edition of the tournament and was held in Jericó, Colombia between 25 and 27 November 2022. The teams participating in the tournament were Brazil, Chile and Colombia. Brazil won the tournament, winning both their games. The tournament was also a qualification round for the 2025 Rugby League World Cup, as Brazil advance to the 2023 Americas Rugby League Championship where they will play against , and to determine which two sides will represent the Americas in France in 2025. The South American Rugby League Championship is a rugby league football tournament for South American national teams that was first held in 2018. History The inaugural South American Rugby League Championship was held in 2018 which was both hosted and won by Brazil in both the men's and women's tournament. However it wasn't until the second edition in 2022 that the tournament was played under International Rugby League specifications. The tournament acts as South American World Cup qualification tournament with the winners gaining the right to play in the Americas Rugby League Championship, the winner of that tournament qualifies for the World Cup. The Argentina national rugby league team (formerly nicknamed the Penguins but now the Jabalis) represent Argentina in the sport of rugby league football. History Argentina first played rugby league in 2005 when the Australian Police Rugby League Association organised a tour to Buenos Aires. The Brazil women's national rugby league team represent Brazil in international rugby league football competitions. They were announced to play in the 2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup in July 2019. Former Super League player Matt Gardner, of Brazilian descent, was announced as head coach in November 2019.
