2018 Polish Local Elections
The 2018 Polish local elections were held on October 21 for all 16 provincial (voivodeship, ''województwo'') assemblies, 380 county (''powiat'') councils, and 2477 commune (''gmina'') councils. There were also direct elections for commune heads (mayors and city presidents), with a second, run-off round for these offices on November 4. The local elections were a victory of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS), though the opposition Civic Coalition (KO) maintained control of the majority of cities, including the capital Warsaw. Voivodeship Sejmik
A voivodeship sejmik ( pl, sejmik województwa), also known as a provincial or regional assembly, is the regional-level elected legislature for each of the sixteen voivodeships of Poland.#Machnikowski, Machnikowski et al., p. 21 Sejmiks are elected to five-year terms, decided during nationwide Local elections in Poland, local elections. The size of the legislative assembly varies for each voivodeship depending on the population; in lower populated provinces, there are 30 members, while in the most populous (Masovian Voivodeship) there are 51 members. The Greens ( pl, Partia Zieloni, PZ) is a political party in Poland. It was formed in 2003 under the name "Greens 2004" and formally registered itself in February 2004. National Movement ( pl, Ruch Narodowy, RN) is an ultranationalist political party in Poland. It is led by Robert Winnicki. It was founded in 2012 as an organization, and in 2014 it was registered as a political party. It is a part of the Confederation Liberty and Independence, and it currently has 5 members in the Sejm. Left Together () is a left-wing political party in Poland. It was formed in 2015 as "Together", and it was one of the eight nationwide committees standing in the 2015 parliamentary election. It was a member of the Progressive International, and it has cooperated with DiEM25 since 2016. The New Hope (, NN), previously known as Confederation for the Renewal of the Republic Liberty and Hope (, KORWiN/Liberty), is a right-wing populist political party in Poland.
