2018 NPSL Season
The 2018 National Premier Soccer League season was part of the 106th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States and the 16th season of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). Elm City Express was the defending champion. The 2018 NPSL champion qualifies to play for the 2019 Hank Steinbrecher Cup organized by the United States Adult Soccer Association. The NPSL has elected to use results of the 2018 league season to determine which NPSL clubs qualify for the 2019 U.S. Open Cup. The United States Soccer Federation has not yet determined how many berths for the U.S. Open Cup will be awarded to NPSL clubs. Miami FC 2 defeated FC Motown on the road, 3–1, to win the 2018 NPSL championship. Dylan Mares was named Man of the Match. National Premier Soccer League
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American men's association football, soccer league. The NPSL is a semi-professional league, comprising some teams that have paid players and some that are entirely amateur. The league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and has automatic qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. The league's motto is "A National League with a Regional Focus". Competition format The National Premier Soccer League is divided into four separate regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, and West). Each region is divided into conferences with a varying number of teams per conference. F.C. Indiana is an American men's soccer team based in Lafayette, Indiana, United States. Founded in 2000, the team compete in the Premier Arena Soccer League indoor soccer league. The Lions also play in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national outdoor league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The men's club are affiliated with the F.C. Indiana women's team. History The Lions formed a men's adult team in 2006 and entered play in the PASL 2006-07 Winter season. The team then played outdoors in the NPSL 2007 season. The team went hiatus for the 2008–09 season and returned to play both leagues in 2009. After their second NPSL campaign the team played exclusively indoor soccer for five seasons. Rochester Lancers (2015)
The Rochester Lancers (formerly known as Rochester River Dogz FC) are an American soccer team based in Rochester, New York. Founded as the Rochester River Dogz in 2015, the team rebranded as the Rochester Lancers in April 2017. The team plays in the National Premier Soccer League, National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Midwest Region. The team play its home games at the Aquinas Institute's Wegmans Stadium. Their name comes from the original Rochester Lancers (1967–1980), Lancers who played from 1967 until 1980 as well as the Rochester Lancers (MASL), indoor team that began play in 2011. Dylan Mares (born February 11, 1992) is an American professional association football, soccer player who plays as an midfielder, attacking midfielder for Louisville City FC, Louisville City in the USL Championship. Career Early career From Zionsville, Indiana, Zionsville, Indiana, played youth soccer with the Indiana Fire Academy from 2008 to 2010. Mares and A. J. Corrado led Zionsville Community High School to a 2009 Indiana High School Athletic Association, IHSAA state championship in soccer. He then started his collegiate career at the University of Louisville where he played college soccer for the Louisville Cardinals from 2010 to 2012. United States Adult Soccer Association
The United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) is a national organization for amateur soccer in the United States. It consists of 55 state organizations as well as national, regional and state leagues. The National Premier Soccer League, NISA Nation and United Premier Soccer League are USASA national affiliates designed to promote a higher level of competition than the state organizations. Elm City Express is a men's soccer club based in New Haven, Connecticut that most recently competed in the National Premier Soccer League. The club's colors are blue and white, and plays its home matches at Jess Dow Field at Southern Connecticut State University.
