The 2018 Lory Meagher Cup was the 10th staging of the Lory Meagher Cup, the Gaelic Athletic Association's fifth tier inter-county hurling championship. Lory Meagher Cup
The Lory Meagher Cup (; often referred to as the Meagher Cup) is the fifth-highest inter-county senior championship in hurling. Each year, the champion team in the Lory Meagher Cup is promoted to the Nicky Rackard Cup. The Lory Meagher Cup, which was introduced for the 2009 season, provides a meaningful championship for fifth tier teams deemed "too weak" for the fourth tier Nicky Rackard Cup. The winners of the championship receive the Lory Meagher Cup, named after former Kilkenny hurler Lory Meagher who many regard as one of the greatest hurlers of all time. 2018 Christy Ring Cup
The 2018 Christy Ring Cup was the 14th staging of the Christy Ring Cup hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2005. It is the third tier of senior inter-county hurling. The competition began on 12 May 2018 and ended on 23 June 2018. Carlow were the 2017 champions, beating Antrim in the final. Both teams were included in the counties competing in the newly created Joe McDonagh Cup. Roscommon lost their play-off match against Mayo in 2017 – normally Roscommon would have been relegated but they remained in the 2018 Christy Ring Cup as a result of the restructuring of the hurling championship tiers. 2018 Joe McDonagh Cup
The 2018 Joe McDonagh Cup was the inaugural staging of the Joe McDonagh Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The fixtures were announced on 13 April 2018. The competition began on 5 May 2018. On 1 July 2018, Carlow won the title following a 2-26 to 1-24 defeat of Westmeath in the final. This was their second successive promotion within the various tiers of hurling, as they were also the 2017 Christy Ring Cup champions. Meath were relegated from the Joe McDonagh Cup after losing all of their group stage games. Antrim's Neil McManus was the competition's top scorer with 3-67. The 2018 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 131st staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. It is the first tier of senior inter-county championship hurling. The championship began on 12 May 2018 and ended on 19 August 2018. The draw for the championship round-robin fixtures was held off camera on 19 October 2017 and announced on the championship draw broadcast on RTÉ2. The Championship was won by Limerick, who were crowned champions after overcoming Galway in the final by a score line of 3–16 to 2-18. 2008 Nicky Rackard Cup
The 2008 Nicky Rackard Cup was the 4th annual third tier hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Sligo beat Louth in the final. Sligo County Hurling Team
The Sligo county hurling team represents Sligo in hurling and is governed by Sligo GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the Christy Ring Cup and the National Hurling League. It formerly competed in the abolished Connacht Senior Hurling Championship, finishing as runner-up in 1900 and 1906. Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch
Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch (born 1996) is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Sligo Championship clubs Naomh Eoin and St Mary's and at inter-county level with the Sligo senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career O'Kelly Lynch first came to prominence as a dual player with the Naomh Eoin and St Mary's clubs in the respective juvenile and underage grades. After progressing onto the adult teams he has won County Senior Championship titles in both codes. O'Kelly-Lynch first appeared on the inter-county scene as a dual player at minor and under-21 levels. He was 17-years-old when he was drafted onto the Sligo senior hurling team in 2013, while he has also lined out with the Sligo senior football team. O'Kelly-Lynch has since won Nicky Rackard Cup and Lory Meagher Cup titles. Ronan Crowley
Ronan Crowley (born 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-forward for the Lancashire senior team. Born in Bandon, County Cork, Crowley first played competitive hurling and Gaelic football at St. Brogan's College. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Bandon club, winning divisional championship medals in the minor and under-21 grades. Crowley subsequently enjoyed success with the Bandon adult team, winning an intermediate championship medal in 2011 and a premier intermediate championship medal in 2016. He currently plays with St. Peter's in Manchester. Crowley made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he was selected for the Cork minor team.
