2018 Georgian Cup
The 2018 Georgian Cup was a single elimination association football tournament which began on 16 April 2018 and ended on 25 November 2018. Chikhura Sachkhere were the defending champions of the tournament after winning the previous season's cup 4–3 in a penalty shootout over Torpedo Kutaisi. Format For the 2018 version of the Georgian Cup, the competition was contested between 78 clubs. Matches which were level after regulation proceeded to extra time and then to penalties, when needed, to decide the winning club. First round Thirty first round matches were played on 14–16 April 2018. Second round Sixteen second round matches were played on 8–9 May 2018. FC Chikhura Sachkhere
Football Club Chikhura Sachkhere, commonly known as Chikhura Sachkhere or simply Chikhura, is a Georgian football club based in Sachkhere. After the 2022 season they were relegated to Liga 4, the fourth tier of Georgian league system. History Founded in 1938, during World War II the club was disbanded, but later they resumed participation in low leagues of the republican championship. Since 2002 Chikhura has been financed by the Georgian businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili. The club spent many years in lower divisions before getting promoted to Umaglesi Liga in 2012. The league gained a stable and decent member, known as a tough rival for championship title candidates. From the outset the club proved they were going to challenge the best teams. FC Gareji Sagarejo
FC Gareji is a Georgia (country), Georgian Association football club from Sagarejo, which currently takes part in Erovnuli Liga 2, the second tier of Georgia (country), Georgian football league. The team has recently made headlines after achieving three consecutive promotions. History Established in 1960, during the USSR, Soviet period Gareji for many years participated in Georgian republican championship and later, after 1990, spent several seasons in the second and third divisions. FC Egrisi Senaki
FC Egrisi is a Georgian association football club based in the town of Senaki. The club competes in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of Georgian football system. The team has played one season in the top flight. History The club had different names in 1940-60s and as Spartaki, Gantiadi, Tsiskari and Kolkheti participated in the Georgian domestic league. In the most memorable event in 1970, they won the republican Cup competition. Since then the football club has been competing under the current name. Egrisi played in Umaglesi Liga in the 1995–96 season, but they failed to secure their place in the league. The team has since been in low leagues with most of the seasons spent in the third division. FC Khikhani Khulo
FC Khikhani Khulo ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი ხიხანი) is a defunct Georgian association football club from the town of Khulo. The team took part in Meore Liga and Regionuli Liga for six seasons combined. In 2021, they withdrew from the league. History Khikhani was founded in 2015 with financial support from the ''Acharistskali Georgia'' power company, engaged in HEP construction nearby. The team made a debut in Meore Liga in the same year and finished in the 4th place. Due to reorganization of the Georgian league structure, the next season 56 clubs out of 64 were relegated from the league. Among them was Khikhani, despite coming 3rd in their group. FC Meskheti (''Georgian'': საფეხბურთო კლუბი მესხეთი) is a defunct Georgian football club based in Akhaltsikhe. Most recently the club took part in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of Georgian league system, although in the late 2000s they spent two seasons in the top division. Meskheti ceased their activities in early 2021. History Founded in 2005, the club initially participated in Pirveli Liga for the first two years. Meskheti finished 2nd in 2007 and gained promotion to Umaglesi Liga, where they spent two seasons. In 2008 certain financial problems hit the club, which was denied assistance from the local municipality. The next July, unable to meet the requirements necessary for a top-league team, Meskheti were expelled to the second division with 3 points deducted. FC Sulori is a Georgian football club based in the town of Vani. They currently take part in Liga 4, the forth tier of Georgian league system. The team has spent two seasons in the top flight. They play their home games at Grigol Nikoleishvili Stadium. History Sulori became champions of the Georgian Soviet league in 1969. This success enabled the club to participate in the Soviet Second Minor league the next year, which they finished in the 10th place among 18 teams. By claiming seven titles within nine years, Sulori became one of the leading members of the republican league in 1980s. In the same period twice in a row they clinched the Georgian Cup as well. FC Shevardeni-1906 Tbilisi is one of the oldest Georgian association football clubs. They play in the Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football from 2023. History It was founded in 1906, after a Czech public figure named Jaroslav Svatoš invited several athletics coaches to Georgia at the end of the 19th century and formed a sports society called ''Sokol'' (Czech word for Falcon that was later translated to Georgian Shevardeni). The club played its first match on October 23, 1911, against the united team of different sports societies and won the game 1-0. FC Guria is a Georgian association football club from Lanchkhuti, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national league. Being one of the strongest Georgian teams in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Guria have taken part in the Soviet Top league, also won the national Cup and played fifteen seasons in Umaglesi Liga, twice claiming silver medals. FC Gori
FC Gori is a Georgian association football club, based in Gori, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football system. History Established in 2015, FC Gori to this day retains the status of a municipal non-commercial legal entity. Currently they are the only club to have been in the third division for the eight successive season. The team achieved their best result in Liga 3 in 2016 when they won the tournament after an unbeaten run during the entire season.
