FC Khikhani Khulo
FC Khikhani Khulo ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი ხიხანი) is a defunct Georgian association football club from the town of Khulo. The team took part in Meore Liga and Regionuli Liga for six seasons combined. In 2021, they withdrew from the league. History Khikhani was founded in 2015 with financial support from the ''Acharistskali Georgia'' power company, engaged in HEP construction nearby. The team made a debut in Meore Liga in the same year and finished in the 4th place. Due to reorganization of the Georgian league structure, the next season 56 clubs out of 64 were relegated from the league. Among them was Khikhani, despite coming 3rd in their group. The club became a member of Regionuli Liga, where they spent next four seasons. Following the first year, when Khikhani achieved their main goal, in 2018 the team faced worsening financial problems. Khulo
Khulo ( ka, ხულო ) is a townlet ('' daba'') in Adjara, an autonomous republic in southwest Georgia, 88 km east of the regional capital Batumi, in the upper valley of the Adjaristsqali River. The town and adjoining 78 villages form the mountainous Khulo District (Rayon), which has an area of 710 km2 and a population of 23,327. The town, formerly known as Khula and Hulo, was a merchant place located on a medieval road that linked the neighboring region of Samtskhe-Javakheti to the Black Sea coast. The Khulo area has been inhabited since ancient times, almost from the Bronze Age. Cult monuments include the Thilvani Menhir, a simple megalith building/vertical column about 20 meters tall that archaeologists think was connected to a funeral ritual. Another monument, the Kaloto Altar was found in Khulo, confirming the existence of civilization in the Khulo region in pre-Christian times. Meore Liga
Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. For 2022 the number of clubs was increased to 16. Seasons run based on Spring-Autumn system with each team playing an equal amount of home and away games against their league rivals. Regionuli Liga
Regionuli Liga (Georgian: რეგიონული ლიგა), run by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the fifth and lowest division of the Georgian league system after Erovnuli Liga, Erovnuli Liga 2, Liga 3 and Liga 4. Its participants are both professional clubs and reserve teams of higher league members. Prior to the introduction of Liga 4 in 2019, Regionuli Liga was the fifth tier. Structure As the name implies, the league is based on regional principle. Depending on the number of participating clubs, it is divided into several groups. In 2017, there were forty teams allocated in three groups. The next year two zones were created for teams based in Western Georgia and two more for the eastern regions.
