2018 Collegiate Basketball Awards
The 2018 Collegiate Basketball Awards was an awarding ceremony recognizing the champion teams, players and coaches from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 80 and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 93 men's basketball tournaments and UAAP women's basketball tournaments. The CBA is organized by the UAAP Press Corps and the NCAA Press Corps, a group of sportswriters and reporters from print and online media who are covering the two top-tier collegiate leagues in the Philippines. UAAP Press Corps is headed by Reuben Terrado of Spin.ph and NCAA Press Corps is headed by Cedelf P. Tupas of Philippine Daily Inquirer. Intramuros
Intramuros (Latin for "inside the walls") is the historic walled area within the city of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Ateneo Blue Eagles
The Ateneo Blue Eagles are the collegiate varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity basketball team is called the ''Lady Eagles''. The Ateneo collegiate men's varsity basketball team was not always called the Blue Eagles. It got the name Blue Eagles when Ateneo adopted the ''Eagle'' as its mascot in 1938. Prior to that, from 1914 it was known under different names. The National University Bulldogs are the collegiate men's varsity teams of National University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the ''Lady Bulldogs'' while the high school varsity teams are called the ''Bullpups''. UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Athletic director of the University of the East is Rodrigo M. Roque. Background The University of the East is one of eight schools participating in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. DLSU Green Archers
The De La Salle Green Archers (also known simply as the Green Archers) are the men's varsity teams representing De La Salle University in the Philippines. The women's varsity teams are generally referred to as the De La Salle Lady Archers. The school's varsity teams participate in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, among others. Benoit Mbala (born July 13, 1995) is a Cameroonian professional basketball player for OGM Ormanspor of the TBL. He played college basketball in the Philippines, playing for the SWU Cobras of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) and the De La Salle Green Archers of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). Early life and career Mbala is a native of Yaoundé, Cameroon. The LPU Pirates are the athletic teams that represent the Lyceum of the Philippines University and plays in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), the oldest athletic association in the Philippines. Lyceum has fifteen collegiate men's varsity teams that participate in fifteen sporting events of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), its mother league. Christian Jaymar Perez (born November 17, 1993) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was selected 1st overall in the 2018 PBA draft by Columbian Dyip. Early life and college career Although born in Kowloon, Hong Kong, CJ lives and grew up in Bautista, Pangasinan, Philippines. Ferdinand "Thirdy" Crisologo Ravena III (born December 17, 1996) is a Filipino professional basketball player for San-en NeoPhoenix of the Japanese B.League. The San Beda Red Lions is the collegiate varsity basketball team of the San Beda University that plays in the NCAA. The juniors basketball team is called the Red Cubs of San Beda University–Rizal, while the women's varsity basketball team is called the Red Lionesses.
