2017–18 UMass Minutemen Basketball Team
The 2017–18 UMass Minutemen basketball team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Minutemen were led by first-year head coach Matt McCall and played their home games at the William D. Mullins Memorial Center in Amherst, Massachusetts as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 13–20, 5–13 in A-10 play to finish in 13th place. They beat La Salle in the first round of the A-10 tournament before losing in the second round to George Mason. Previous season The Minutemen finished the 2016–17 season 15–18, 4–14 in A-10 play to finish in a 12th place. They defeated Saint Joseph's in the first round of the A-10 tournament before losing to St. Bonaventure. Matt McCall (basketball)
Matthew Wayne McCall (born December 12, 1981) is an American college basketball coach. He was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Coaching career McCall was a student manager at the University of Florida during the 2002–03 season. He was named head manager the following year. After graduating, he continued working with the program, and in 2006 he was named director of basketball operations. In 2008, he was hired as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic. He held that position until 2011, when he was hired by the University of Florida as an assistant. McCall was hired by Chattanooga in April 2015 after Will Wade left to take the head coaching job at VCU. Derek Kellogg
Derek William Kellogg (born June 20, 1973) is an American college basketball coach who currently serves as an assistant coach for Creighton. Kellogg previously served as head coach of the Massachusetts Minutemen, his alma mater, being named to the position on April 23, 2008, replacing Travis Ford, who left to take the head coaching job at Oklahoma State University. He was removed from the position on March 9, 2017. After being let go by the Minutemen, he was named head coach of the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, which represented the school's Brooklyn campus. He was named the first head coach of the current LIU team upon its formation in July 2019 when LIU merged the Brooklyn athletic program with that of its Post campus, creating a new program that now competes as the LIU Sharks, and served in that role until he was fired and replaced by Rod Strickland on June 30, 2022. The LIU Sharks men's basketball team represents Long Island University in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They play their home games at their Brooklyn Campus in the Steinberg Wellness Center and Barclays Center, formerly known as the Wellness, Recreation & Athletics Center, and are members of the Northeast Conference. Howard College

DeJon Jarmond Jarreau (born January 23, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the UMass Minutemen and the Houston Cougars. Early life and high school career Jarreau grew up in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, a neighborhood suffering from crime and poverty. The Iona Gaels men's basketball team represents Iona University in New Rochelle, New York in NCAA Division I competition.
