2017 World Women's Curling Championship
The 2017 World Women's Curling Championship (branded as CPT World Women's Curling Championship 2017 for sponsorship reasons) was a curling event held between March 18–26 at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China. The winning Rachel Homan rink from Canada was the first team to go through a women's world championship undefeated since the event began in 1979, winning 13 games through the round robin, playoffs and final. Runners-up Russia took their first silver medal on this event. 2016 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships
The 2016 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships were held from November 5 to 12 at the Gyeongbuk Uiseong Curling Training Center in Uiseong-eup, Uiseong County, South Korea. The top two teams from the men's tournament will qualify for the 2017 Ford World Men's Curling Championship and the top finisher will join China at the 2017 World Women's Curling Championship. Hvidovre Curling Club
Hvidovre is the main town in Hvidovre Municipality, Denmark. The town, a suburb of Copenhagen, is about 10 km southwest of the capital's center. It is the 2nd biggest suburb of Copenhagen, only beaten by Frederiksberg. History Hvidovre has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1929, a 3,500-year-old sword from the Bronze Age was excavated in Hvidovre. A farm, Ovre (Aworthe), was located in the area in about 1170 when Esbern Snare gave it to Sorø Abbey that later passed it on to Absalon, Bishop Absalon. A church was built during the Romanesque period. The name Hvidovre, meaning White Ovre, refers to the colour of the church, which was built in white chalk, as opposed to the one in Rødovre, Red Ovre, which was built in red brick. Klára Svatoňová (born 24 January 1993) is a Czech curler from Prague. She currently plays lead on the Czech national women's curling team, skipped by Anna Kubešková. Career In her first World Junior Curling Championships in 2012, Svatoňová was part of the first ever Czech Republic curling team to win a World Championship medal. Her team won the silver medal, Svatoňová playing second for Zuzana Hájková. The team had a strong performance, finishing the round robin with a 6–3 record, in a five-way tie for second. The team avoided a tie breaker however, and after losing their first playoff game to first place Scotland, they rallied to win the semi-final against Sweden's Sara McManus before losing once again to Scotland's Hannah Fleming in the final. The team returned to the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, with fourth-thrower Iveta Janatova now skipping the team. Anna Kubešková
Anna Kubešková (born 30 October 1989) is a Czech curler from Prague. She currently skips the Czech Republic National team. Career Kubešková represented the Czech Republic at four World Junior Curling Championships (2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and at the 2011 Winter Universiade. In women's play, Kubešková first represented her country at the 2010 European Curling Championships, where she led her country to a 12–1 record in the "B" Pool. She again played at the Euros in 2012 playing second for Linda Klimova. The team finished with a 3–7 record in eighth place. Kubešková skipped the Czech Republic team at the 2013 European Curling Championships, where they finished the event with a 4–5 record in 6th place.
