Zhou Yan (curler)
Zhou Yan (; ; born September 30, 1982; usually referred to in the media as Yan Zhou) is a Chinese curler. She plays lead for the Chinese national team, skipped by Wang Bingyu. Zhou curled in her first tournament after having only curled for 2 years, at the 2002 Pacific Curling Championships. At that time she played third for the team. Since then, she has played lead for the team in every tournament except for the , when she was the team lead. Zhou has won 3 Pacific Championships (, , ), and a World Championship () as a member of the team. The curling competition of the 2009 New Zealand Winter Games was held at the Maniototo Curling Rink in Naseby, New Zealand. Both the men's and women's competitions concluded on 29 August 2009. In the men's event Australia won gold after defeating China in the final, while in the women's event Japan won the gold, also beating China in the final. Winter Universiade
The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Universiade is referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students. In July 2020 as part of a new branding system by the FISU, it was stated that the Universiade will be officially branded as the FISU World University Games. Asian Winter Games
The Asian Winter Games (AWG) is an international multi-sport event held every four years for members of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) which features winter events. The Japanese Olympic Committee first suggested the idea of holding a winter version of the Asian Games in 1982. Their efforts were rewarded when they were finally given hosting rights for the first edition that was held in Sapporo in 1986, as the city had the infrastructure and expertise gained from hosting of the 1972 Winter Olympics. From having only seven member nations of the Olympic Council of Asia taking part in the first edition, the number of nations competing in the Winter Asiad has consistently grown.
