2017 Tyrone Senior Football Championship
The 2017 Tyrone Senior Football Championship is the 112th edition of Tyrone GAA's premier gaelic football tournament for clubs in Tyrone Senior Football League Division 1. Sixteen teams compete with the winners receiving the O'Neill Cup and representing Tyrone in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. Killyclogher were the defending champions after they defeated Coalisland after a replay in the 2016 final. However the defence of their title came undone at the first hurdle when losing to newly promoted Pomeroy Plunkett's in Round 1. Pomeroy Plunkett's, Urney St. Columba's and Donaghmore St. Patrick's returned to senior championship football in 2017. This year marked the first time a Tyrone championship game was played outside the county. Omagh St. Enda's defeated Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa in a first round re-fixture tie in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh. Tyrone Senior Football Championship
The Tyrone Senior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the LCC Group ''Tyrone Senior Football Championship'') is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by top-tier Tyrone GAA clubs. The Tyrone County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1904. In 2022, the ''Irish Independent'' said of the Tyrone SFC: "Tyrone can rightly lay claim to the most competitive senior football championship of them all just by the range of different winners it has produced over the last decade". Errigal Ciarán are the title holders (2022) defeating Carrickmore in the Final. The Armagh County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae Ard Mhacha) or Armagh GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa GAC
Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa GAC ( ga, CLG Ard Bó Uí Dhonnabhain Rosa) is a club based in east County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, close to the shores of Lough Neagh. The club was formed in 1947 but Gaelic games had existed under different banners from the early 20th century. The club has won a total of seven Tyrone Senior Football Championships, the last in 1998 when they defeated Omagh. Michael Coney Park Michael Coney Park is the home ground of Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa GAC, situated on the Kilmascally road near to the main parish centre. In the 1970s the club constructed the main pavilion building and the surrounding facilities. In the following years new fencing was erected and a new covered stand and terracing to further improve the club's grounds. In recent years the club purchased a new training field near the current playing field. Errigal Ciarán GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club in southern County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It represents the parish of the same name, which incorporates the village of Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Ballygawley and its surrounding area. The club was founded in its current guise in 1990, succeeding the Ballygawley St Ciaran's club which represented the parish from the 1920s until the 1980s. Carrickmore () is a village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the historic barony of Omagh East, the civil parish of Termonmaguirk and the Roman Catholic Parish of Termonmaguirc between Cookstown, Dungannon and Omagh. Clonoe O'Rahilly's GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Clonoe, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Their home ground is O'Rahilly Park which was opened in 1952. History Clonoe Gaelic Football Club was founded in 1916 and named after one of the Rebels in the 1916 Easter Rising. It was not until the 1940s that the Clonoe team became firmly established in Gaelic football. In 1941 Clonoe reached the Tyrone Senior Football Championship final for the first time and was beaten by Moortown St Malachy's. The 1950s was Clonoe's most successful decade, with the official opening of O'Rahilly Park in 1952 and a place in the County Finals in 1952, 1953, 1956, 1958 and 1959. In 1958 Clonoe defeated Carrickmore in the Final and the arrival of The O'Neill Cup at 'the Corner' became a reality. The 1960s were also successful for Clonoe with wins in 1960, 1961 and 1965. Galbally Pearses GAC
Galbally Pearses' is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Galbally in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The club is named after the 1916 Easter Rising martyr, Patrick Pearse. History The "Irish Rapperees" of Galbally were affiliated with the Gaelic Athletic Association for the first time on 30 April 1905. The club was named after Shane Bernagh, who was a highwayman and rapparee who was active in the local area in the 17th century. This club did not survive for long, and by 1907 the Irish Rapperees were no longer in existence. Approximately ten years later, The Galbally McDermott's were established. However, this club was also short-lived. Galbally St Joseph's were affiliated in February 1931 and lasted until 1943. Kildress Wolfe Tones are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from County Tyrone. History The first record of a football match that can be found was played on a June Sunday in 1904 in Gortreagh when a game was arranged to coincide with the formation of a Gaelic football team there. P.T. Devlin told of his memories of that day in a letter to "''The'' ''Dungannon Observer''" dated 8 May 1954.
