Tyrone Senior Football Championship
The Tyrone Senior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the LCC Group ''Tyrone Senior Football Championship'') is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by top-tier Tyrone GAA clubs. The Tyrone County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1904. In 2022, the ''Irish Independent'' said of the Tyrone SFC: "Tyrone can rightly lay claim to the most competitive senior football championship of them all just by the range of different winners it has produced over the last decade". Errigal Ciarán are the title holders (2022) defeating Carrickmore in the Final. History To date, 24 different clubs have won the Tyrone Senior Football Championship, though some of these no longer exist (including Washingbay Shamrocks, Cookstown Brian Óg, Fintona Davitts and Strabane Faugh-a-Bealach). Errigal Ciarán GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club in southern County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It represents the parish of the same name, which incorporates the village of Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Ballygawley and its surrounding area. The club was founded in its current guise in 1990, succeeding the Ballygawley St Ciaran's club which represented the parish from the 1920s until the 1980s. History From 1928 until 1982, the parish of Errigal Ciarán was represented by Ballygawley St Ciaran's. Trillick St Macartan's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Trillick in western County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It competes at Senior level in Tyrone GAA competitions (earlier clubs in the area having played at times in Fermanagh GAA competitions). The club plays Gaelic football, ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. History A branch of the Gaelic League was formed in Trillick on 29 December 1901, and the League pioneered the playing of Gaelic games in 1902. At a Gaelic League Feis in Trillick on 15 August 1903, parish teams from Trillick, Golan, Moorfield and Liffer played the first competitive football games in Trillick. Augher St Macartan's ( ga, An Eochair Naoimh Mhic Artáin ) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Augher, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The club concentrates on Gaelic football, a Ladies Gaelic football club is also in existence in Augher called St. Macartan's whose catchment area includes neighbouring Clogher and Eskra. History Augher St Macartan's have won the Tyrone Senior Football Championship on 3 occasions: 1976,1982 & 1985. Also won Division 1 of the Tyrone All-County Football League in 1986. In 2008 Augher won the Tyrone Junior Football Championship, by beating neighbouring club Aghaloo in the final, on a scoreline of 1:09 to 0:09. Eglish St Patrick's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Eglish in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Grounds Eglish's main playing field is Fr Connolly Park named after a former Parish priest which was opened in 1964 with the pitch being resurfaced in 1997 and 2014. The sports hall was opened in 1984 with new changing rooms and gym being built in 2001. The club's new football ground is named Pairc Chormaic after the late Eglish and Tyrone captain Cormac McAnallen which opened in 2012. Changing rooms were built in late 2016. Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa GAC ( ga, CLG Ard Bó Uí Dhonnabhain Rosa) is a club based in east County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, close to the shores of Lough Neagh. The club was formed in 1947 but Gaelic games had existed under different banners from the early 20th century. The club has won a total of seven Tyrone Senior Football Championships, the last in 1998 when they defeated Omagh. Michael Coney Park Michael Coney Park is the home ground of Ardboe O'Donovan Rossa GAC, situated on the Kilmascally road near to the main parish centre. In the 1970s the club constructed the main pavilion building and the surrounding facilities. In the following years new fencing was erected and a new covered stand and terracing to further improve the club's grounds. In recent years the club purchased a new training field near the current playing field. Galbally Pearses
Galbally Pearses' is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Galbally in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. The club is named after the 1916 Easter Rising martyr, Patrick Pearse. History The "Irish Rapperees" of Galbally were affiliated with the Gaelic Athletic Association for the first time on 30 April 1905. The club was named after Shane Bernagh, who was a highwayman and rapparee who was active in the local area in the 17th century. This club did not survive for long, and by 1907 the Irish Rapperees were no longer in existence. Approximately ten years later, The Galbally McDermott's were established. However, this club was also short-lived. Galbally St Joseph's were affiliated in February 1931 and lasted until 1943. During their short existence, the St Joseph's appeared in three East Tyrone Junior Championship Finals, losing-out to Moortown in 1934, Pomeroy in 1935 and Washinbay in 1942. Forfeit (sport)
In various sports, a forfeit is a method in which a match automatically ends, and the forfeiting team loses. There are two distinct forms of forfeiture. One occurs when a team is unable (or refuses) to meet the basic standards for playing the game, either before the game begins or as a result of actions that happen during the match. In such a case, the team not forfeiting wins the match. Another is ''punitive forfeiture'', in which a team has been found to have broken the rules of a sanctioning body during a match they have won and must have the results stricken from the record; whether or not the other team receives a win in such a case depends on the rules of that body and/or whether or not they were in compliance with the rules - if neither team was in compliance with the rules and/or the rules do not allow a losing team to be credited for a win in such a manner then the result is either a ''double forfeit'' and/or otherwise recorded as a loss for both teams. Derrylaughan Kevin Barrys is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based along the Washing Bay area east of the parish of Clonoe in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. History Previous clubs existed in 1903 (‘Rising Sons of Goff’), 1917–19 and 1923 (Aughamullan Erin’s Hope/Pearses and Kevin Barrys). Washingbay Shamrocks flourished in period 1929-36 and 1939–48; won junior league in 1929, Dr. Collins Cup in 1932, SFC in 1934 (finalists in 1931), JFC in 1942. Today's club was formed in 1945, and named after Kevin Barry. The club saw success winning the Junior Football Championship in 1949. They beat Dungannon in the final in a low scoring game 2-3 to 1-1. Derrytresk Fir An Chnoic ( ga, Doire Treasc Fir a' Chnoic) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Tyrone. The club is based in the townland of Derrytresk near Clonoe in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Gaelic football The club concentrates on Gaelic football, with the senior team currently competing in Division 3 of the Tyrone All-County Football League and in the Tyrone Junior Football Championship. Although one of the smallest clubs in the county, with a catchment area of about 60 houses, Derrytresk won the 2011 Tyrone JFC, defeating Killeeshil 0-15 to 0-9. They went on to win the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship, defeating Monaghan's Cremartin 2-5 to 0-10. They won their All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry's Dromid Pearses (1-10 to 7 points), but narrowly lost the final in February 2012 to Naomh Pádraig of Galway. Clogher Éire Óg ( ga, Clochar Éireann Óig) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club. The club is based in Clogher in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. History The present club is in existence since 1938. A Team existed in Clogher (Rapparees) for a brief period in 1907-08. Clogher were a strong force in West Tyrone competitions in the period 1940-60; won West Tyrone senior league in 1951 and 1957, St. Enda Cup in 1961; finalists in Tyrone Senior Football Championship in 1948. Dromore St Dympna's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Dromore in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. History The club was established in 1933. On Sunday 14 October 2007, Dromore made history by winning the Tyrone Senior Football Championship for the first time by beating Coalisland 0-14 to 0-4 at Healy Park, Omagh. On Sunday 18 October 2009, Dromore won their second Tyrone Senior Football Championship by beating Ardboe 1-14 to 1-13. Clonoe O'Rahilly's GAC
Clonoe O'Rahilly's GAC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Clonoe, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Their home ground is O'Rahilly Park which was opened in 1952. History Clonoe Gaelic Football Club was founded in 1916 and named after one of the Rebels in the 1916 Easter Rising. It was not until the 1940s that the Clonoe team became firmly established in Gaelic football. In 1941 Clonoe reached the Tyrone Senior Football Championship final for the first time and was beaten by Moortown St Malachy's. The 1950s was Clonoe's most successful decade, with the official opening of O'Rahilly Park in 1952 and a place in the County Finals in 1952, 1953, 1956, 1958 and 1959. In 1958 Clonoe defeated Carrickmore in the Final and the arrival of The O'Neill Cup at 'the Corner' became a reality. The 1960s were also successful for Clonoe with wins in 1960, 1961 and 1965.
