2017 Serbian Local Elections
A small number of municipalities in Serbia held local elections in 2017. These were not part of the country's regular cycle of local elections but instead took place in certain jurisdictions where either the local government had fallen or the last local elections for four-year terms had taken place in 2013. All local elections in Serbia in 2017 were held under proportional representation. Mayors were not directly elected but were instead chosen by elected members of the local assemblies. Parties were required to cross a five per cent electoral threshold (of all votes, not only of valid votes), although this requirement was waived for parties representing national minority communities. Živko Marković ( sr-Cyrl, Живко Марковић; born 23 March 1952), known as Bata, is a Serbian politician. He has served two terms in the Assembly of Vojvodina and three terms as president of the Pećinci municipal assembly. During his time as an elected official, Marković was a member of the Democratic Party (DS). Private career Marković is from the village of Subotište in Pećinci. He is a graduated manager. The League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina ( sr-cyrl, Лига социјалдемократа Војводине, Liga socijaldemokrata Vojvodine, LSV) is an autonomist political party in Serbia. Serbian Progressive Party
The Serbian Progressive Party ( sr-cyrl, Српска напредна странка, Srpska napredna stranka, SNS) has been the ruling political party of Serbia since 2012. Founded by Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić in 2008 as a split from the far-right Serbian Radical Party (SRS), the SNS served in opposition to the Democratic Party (DS) for the next several years. Running on an anti-corruption platform, it managed a strong performance in the 2009 Belgrade local elections, and in the same year, became the strongest opposition party. Pećinci (, ; hu, Pecsince) is a village and municipality located in the Srem District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. The village has a population of 2,581 (2011), while Pećinci municipality has 19,720 inhabitants. Goran Nikolić ( sr-cyr, Горан Николић; born 1967) is a politician in Serbia. He has served in the National Assembly of Serbia from 2016 to 2020, at which time he became the mayor of Odžaci. Enough is Enough ( sr, Доста је било, Dosta je bilo, DJB) is a right-wing populist political party in Serbia. It was established on 27 January 2014 around the former minister of economy Saša Radulović and his associates from the ministry. Initially, the party had strong liberal, reformist, and progressive views, and in the 2016 parliamentary election they entered the parliament with 16 seats in total. Between early 2017 and 2018, its pro-European and liberal factions split off due to the internal conflict in the party. Latinka Vasiljković ( sr-cyr, Латинка Васиљковић; born 1981) is a politician in Serbia. 2017 Serbian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Serbia on 2 April 2017. Incumbent president Tomislav Nikolić was eligible to run for a second five-year term, but opted not to do so. Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić was elected president in the first round. The election was marred by accusations of voter intimidation and a near total domination of the Serbian media by Vučić and his party. Following the announcement of the results, protests were held across Serbia against Vučić's victory. Odžaci ( sr-cyrl, Оџаци, ; hu, Hódság) is a town and municipality located in the West Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia.
