2017 Jeux De La Francophonie
The 2017 Jeux de la Francophonie, also known as ''VIIIèmes Jeux de la Francophonie'' ( French for ''8th Francophone Games''), informally known as Abidjan 2017, took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from July 21–30. This was the first edition of the games to be hosted in Ivory Coast. Since 2011, it was the third international competition held in Abidjan, after the 2013 World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships and the 2013 AfroBasket. Abidjan
Abidjan ( , ; N'Ko script, N’ko: ߊߓߌߖߊ߲߬) is the economic capital of the Ivory Coast. As of the Demographics of Ivory Coast, 2021 census, Abidjan's population was 6.3 million, which is 21.5 percent of overall population of the country, making it the sixth most populous city proper in Africa, after Lagos, Cairo, Kinshasa, Dar es Salaam, and Johannesburg. A cultural crossroads of West Africa, Abidjan is characterised by a high level of industrialisation and urbanisation. It also is one of the most populous French-speaking cities in Africa. The city expanded quickly after the construction of a new wharf in 1931, followed by its designation as the capital city of the then-French colony in 1933. Palace Of Culture Of Abidjan
Culture Palace of Abidjan (''Palais de la Culture d'Abidjan'') is a temple of culture in Abidjan, Ivory Coast (''Côte d’Ivoire''). The building is situated between the Houphouët-Boigny Bridge and the General de Gaulle Bridge. Culture Palace of Abidjan, with a capacity of 9,400 people, was bestowed to the Ivorian government as a gift from China. It was inaugurated on 1 October 1999 during the official handover of the keys. It was constructed on a 12000 square meter site. Conducted by Sidiki Bakaba since the year of 2000. Sidiki Bakaba, was honored for lifetime achievement on 10 July 2009, in the Pan-African Cultural Festival in Algiers. National Library Of Ivory Coast
National Library of Ivory Coast (french: Bibliothèque Nationale de Côte d'Ivoire) is located in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. It was closed in 2006 because of lack of funding and a new team led by Adjiman Nandoh Chantal has been at work since February 2008 and aims to restore and renew the institution.
