The Shanghai Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Shanghai. Between 2009 and 2019, the stadium hosted home matches of the Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG. History The stadium opened on 14 March 1999 when the eighth National Games of China were held in Shanghai. It was used for football preliminaries at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Shanghai Stadium was also the venue for the opening ceremony of the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games. Alexander Chuka Iwobi ( ; born 3 May 1996) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Everton and the Nigeria national team. The Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Central Stadium () is a stadium situated in the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, China. Nuri Şahin (born 5 September 1988) is a football manager and former professional player who played as a central midfielder. He is the manager of Antalyaspor.
