The 2017 Georgian Cup began on 1 March 2017 and ended on 2 December 2017. The winners of this season's cup (Chikhura Sachkhere) earned a place in the 2018–19 Europa League and will enter in the first qualifying round. Torpedo Kutaisi were the defending champions. Format For the 2017 season, the Georgian Cup was a single elimination tournament between 80 clubs. Level matches after regulation went to extra time and then to penalties, when needed, to decide the winning club. First round Twelve first round matches were played on 1 March 2017. Second round Twenty-four second round matches were played on 5 March 2017. Third round Twelve third round matches were played on 9–10 March 2017. FC Torpedo Kutaisi is a Georgian professional football club based in Kutaisi, Georgia's third largest city. FC Aragvi Dusheti, or simply Aragvi Dusheti ( ka, სკ დუშეთის არაგვი) is a Georgian association football club from Dusheti, currently based in Tbilisi. Following the 2023 season, the team won Liga 3 and advanced to Erovnuli Liga 2, the second tier of Georgian football. History Established in 1954, during the Soviet period Aragvi mainly participated in the East group of Georgian republican league 2. In the 2008–09 season, the team played in the Meore Liga. Shiola Shiolashvili led the team to first place in the third tier. In 2009–10 season the team had the opportunity to participate in the Pirveli Liga next year, but some financial problems made this goal unachievable. FC Borjomi
FC Borjomi is a Georgian football club based in Borjomi. Since the 2021 season they have been a member of Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football system. The team has spent four seasons in the top flight. Their home ground is Jemal Zeinklishvili Stadium. History Founded in 1936, FC Borjomi participated in Georgian regional championship for many years. From 1993/94 they spent several seasons in the second and third division. In 2004/05 Borjomi finished 2nd in Liga 2 and got promoted to Umaglesi Liga, where the club competed for four seasons. FC Chkherimela Kharagauli ( Georgian: სკ ჩხერიმელა) was a Georgian football club based in the town of Kharagauli. History Founded in 1982, the club participated the lower leagues of the Georgian SSR Championships until 1997. Twelve years later the team resumed their activities as ''Chkherimela 2009'' and took part in the third division. They gained promotion to Pirveli Liga where retained their place up until 2016. FC Locomotive Tbilisi is a Georgian football club from the capital, Tbilisi. During the existence of the USSR the club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. The club has strong connections with the Georgian Railways. History Locomotive was founded on 14 August 1936 as a part of Lokomotiv sports society. Within less than a decade since joining Georgian football, Gardabani have had different years from the lowest division to the 2nd tier. The team is sponsored by WIT Georgia Ltd (a subsidiary of the United States WIT, Inc.), a pet food, accessories, and human and veterinary pharmaceuticals import company. FC Gori
FC Gori is a Georgian association football club, based in Gori, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football system. History Established in 2015, FC Gori to this day retains the status of a municipal non-commercial legal entity. Currently they are the only club to have been in the third division for the eight successive season. The team achieved their best result in Liga 3 in 2016 when they won the tournament after an unbeaten run during the entire season.
