The 2017 Desert Diamond Cup was the seventh edition of the preseason exhibition tournament. The competition featured six soccer teams from Major League Soccer, held from February 15 to February 25, 2017. The defending champion was the New England Revolution. Houston Dynamo FC (formerly officially, but still commonly, called the Houston Dynamo) is an American professional soccer club based in Houston. The Dynamo compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Established on December 15, 2005, the club was founded after their former owners relocated the San Jose Earthquakes' players and staff to Houston following the 2005 season. For their first six seasons in Houston, the Dynamo were based at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston. During the 2012 season, the club moved to PNC Stadium, a soccer-specific stadium in East Downtown Houston. Kino Sports Complex
Kino Sports Complex is a multiple-use sports complex in Tucson, Arizona. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox formerly utilized the complex's main ballpark, Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, for Cactus League games each March and had their minor league complexes on-site. The ballpark was also home to the Tucson Sidewinders of the Pacific Coast League for the team's last decade in Tucson, running from the stadium's 1998 opening season to the 2008 season. The ballpark was a temporary home (2011–2013) to the Tucson Padres (formerly the Portland Beavers) of the Pacific Coast League during the team's relocation to El Paso, Texas. It was also the regular season home of the Pecos League's Tucson Saguaros baseball team from 2016 to 2017. Romell Samir Quioto Robinson (born 9 August 1991), nicknamed El Romántico (The Romantic), is a Honduran professional footballer who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club CF Montréal and captains the Honduras national team. Club career C.D.S. Vida Quioto came up through the youth ranks of Unión Ájax before being sold to Liga Nacional side C.D.S. VIda. Marc Burch (born May 7, 1984 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American soccer player. Career College and amateur Burch played college soccer at the University of Evansville for three seasons from 2002–2004, scoring seven goals and assisting on 22 along the way, and spent the summer months playing for the Cleveland Internationals in the USL Premier Development League. After the 2004 season he transferred to the University of Maryland, where he would become a crucial member of the Terrapin squad that won the College Cup, even scoring the game-winning goal in the championship against New Mexico. Axel Sjöberg (; born 8 March 1991) is a Swedish former Association football, footballer.
