2016–17 A-League
The 2016–17 A-League was the 40th season of top-flight association football, soccer in Australia, and the 12th since the establishment of the A-League in 2004. The season began on 7 October 2016. Adelaide United FC, Adelaide United were both the defending A-League Premiers and Champions. The 2017 A-League Grand Final, 2017 Grand Final took place on 7 May 2017, with Sydney FC claiming their third Championship with a 1–1 (4–2 on Penalty shoot-out (association football), penalties) win against Melbourne Victory FC, Melbourne Victory. Sydney FC also claimed the premiership for the 2016–17 regular season, their second in club history. W-League (Australia)
A-League Women (known as the Liberty A-League for sponsorship reasons), formerly the W-League, is the top-division women's soccer league in Australia. The W-League was established in 2008 by Football Australia (then known as Football Federation Australia) and was originally composed of eight teams of which seven had an affiliation with an existing A-League Men club. As of the 2021–22 season, the league is contested by ten teams. The league, as well as the A-League Men and A-League Youth are administered by the Australian Professional Leagues. Seasons now run from November to April and include a 22-round regular season and an end-of-season finals series playoff tournament involving the highest-placed teams, culminating in a Grand Final match. The winners of the regular season tournament is dubbed 'premiers' and the winner of the grand final is dubbed 'champions'. Braedyn Crowley (born 10 October 1996) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a striker for Maitland FC in the National Premier Leagues Northern NSW. Career In 2014, Braedyn Crowley was ranked 7th on the list of leading goalscorers for the 2014 NPL competition, with the six players above him all playing in top five teams. Braedyn scored 17 goals for his previous club in 23 games – almost half of the total goals scored by the team for the season (38). Sydney FC Youth
Sydney Football Club Youth is the youth system of Sydney Football Club based in Moore Park, Sydney, Australia. The team referred to as Sydney Youth play in the Y-League (November to February) and consists of u23 players, the highest level of youth soccer in Australia. The club also competes in the National Premier Leagues NSW (March to August), the top competition of Football in NSW, however this team is known as Sydney U21, and is not to be confused with Sydney Youth which is a completely different team, involving different team selection and age group. Melbourne City Football Club Youth is the youth system of Melbourne City Football Club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The youth team plays in the NPL Victoria 3, the third tier of Victorian football in Australia. The club also competes in the under-21s A-League Youth competition. The under-21s and under-19s teams play also play in the NPL Victoria 3 in their respective age level. History Early years (2011–2014) The team was founded in 2011 as Melbourne Heart Youth, the season after their senior side Melbourne City (then known as Melbourne Heart FC), made their A-League debut. Edgeworth FC
Edgeworth Football Club is an Australian semi-professional football club based in the suburb of Edgeworth, near Newcastle, New South Wales. The club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Northern NSW. History The suburb of Edgeworth was known as Young Wallsend until 1960. The first recorded football match involving a Young Wallsend team took place on 14 May 1892, when Minmi Rangers defeated Young Wallsend 3–0 at the Young Wallsend ground. For most of the 20th century a lower-league club, Edgeworth won promotion into the Northern New South Wales 1st Division in 1973. Edgeworth made the 1st Division grand final in 1977, only to be defeated 1-0 by Weston. Bentleigh Greens Soccer Club is an Australian semi professional Association football, soccer club based in Cheltenham, Victoria, Cheltenham, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The club was formed in 1986, by the Greek Cypriot community and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria. Devonport City Strikers Football Club, or the "Strikers" is a soccer club based in Devonport, Tasmania. It competes in the National Premier Leagues, the second-tier of Australian football. The club currently plays at the 3500 capacity, Valley Road Ground, and have recorded 3000+ fans in their FFA Cup games. The club fields teams in all junior divisions, as well as women's sides. Canberra Olympic FC is an Australian semi-professional Association football club based in the suburb of O'Connor in the north of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. Brisbane Strikers Football Club is an Australian semi-professional football club based in Brisbane, Queensland. Founded in 1991 as Brisbane United, the club competed in the National Soccer League until the 2003–04 season and was one of two clubs contending for an A-League licence during the establishment of the league in 2004. Adelaide City FC
Adelaide City Football Club is a soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia. The club was known historically as Juventus — the original name given to the club by its founders in Adelaide's Italian community. Adelaide City is one of Australia's most decorated sides, having been crowned national champion three times.
