Canberra Olympic FC is an Australian semi-professional Association football club based in the suburb of O'Connor in the north of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. The club was founded in 1956, and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football. History Olympic was founded in the early 1950s by the local Greek community of Canberra. Formally the name Olympic was decided in a General Meeting of players and committee members in 1956 with the alternative name AEK losing out in the vote. Olympic have won the ACT top division league (premiership) on seven occasions under the names Canberra Olympic, Olympic and Downer Olympic. The most recent title was the NPL Capital Football premiership in 2017. In addition to this, Olympic have won six grand finals (championship). Sebastian Anthony Pryde Usai (born 28 February 1990) is an Australian footballer who currently play as a goalkeeper for CD Robres in Spain. Career North Queensland Fury Usai joined up with the North Queensland A-League outfit during the 2010-11 season as an injury replacement player. He made his professional debut in the Hyundai A-League on 8 January 2011, in a round 22 clash against Newcastle Jets in a 3–1 loss. After the Fury folded at the end of the season Usai headed to England in search of trials. Olympic Torch
The Olympic flame is a symbol used in the Olympic movement. It is also a symbol of continuity between ancient and modern games. Several months before the Olympic Games, the Olympic flame is lit at Olympia, Greece. This ceremony starts the Olympic torch relay, which formally ends with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. 2017 FFA Cup
The 2017 FFA Cup was the fourth season of the FFA Cup, the main national soccer knockout cup competition in Australia. 32 teams began competing in the competition proper (from the round of 32), including the 10 A-League teams and 21 Football Federation Australia (FFA) member federation teams determined through individual state qualifying rounds, as well as the reigning National Premier Leagues Champion (Sydney United 58 from NSW). Round and dates Prize fund The prize fund is unchanged from the 2016 event. In addition, a further $2,500 was donated from sponsor NAB to Member Federation clubs for each goal scored by them against an A-League opposition. Green Gully is one of the largest clubs in Melbourne, having participated in the now defunct National Soccer League between 1984–1986.
