2016–17 Feldhockey-Bundesliga
The 2016–17 Feldhockey-Bundesliga was the 75th season of the Men's Feldhockey Bundesliga, Germany's premier field hockey league. The season started on 17 September 2016 and ended on 28 May 2017 with the championship final. Mannheimer HC won their first ever Bundesliga title by defeating the defending champions Rot-Weiss Köln Kölner Tennis- und Hockey-Club Stadion Rot-Weiss e.V., also known as KTHC Stadion Rot-Weiss or simply Rot-Weiss Köln, is a German professional field hockey and tennis club based in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia. Men's Feldhockey Bundesliga
The Feldhockey Bundesliga is the top level of men's field hockey in Germany and is managed by the German Hockey Federation. The league currently ranks first in the men's European league rankings. It was established in 1937. Format The season starts in August or September and is interrupted by the indoor hockey season from November to March. From April the outdoor season will be continued. Since the 2011–12 season the league was played by twelve teams who played each other twice and who competed for four spots in the championship play-offs. The number one and four and the number two and three played each other in the semi-final and winners qualified for the final where the winner was crowned champion. The two last-placed teams were relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2019–20 season the German Hockey Federation introduced a new format. Gonzalo Peillat
Gonzalo Peillat (born 12 August 1992) is a field hockey player who plays as a defender for Men's Feldhockey Bundesliga club Mannheimer HC. Born in Argentina, he represents Germany at international level. He previously played for his country of birth national team. In 2015, Peillat was awarded the FIH 2014 Rising Star of the Year. He ended his Argentina career with a total of 153 caps and 176 goals. He represented Argentina in field hockey from 2011 to 2018 before switching his allegiance to Germany as of 2022. Club career Peillat played for Club Ferrocarril Mitre in Argentina until the 2014 World Cup. After this tournament, he wanted to improve his play so he transferred to the Netherlands to play for HGC.
