2016–17 Baltic Basketball League
The 2016–17 Triobet Baltic Basketball League was the 13th season of the Baltic Basketball League and the second under the title sponsorship of Triobet. The season began on 11 October 2016 and concluded on 6 April 2017. BC Prienai, Vytautas defeated BC Pieno žvaigždės, Pieno žvaigždės in the finals to win their first Baltic Basketball League title. Overview This season’s competition includes 7 teams from Estonia, 6 teams from Latvia, 3 teams from Lithuania and one team from Kazakhstan and Belarus, which will play all their games away. The 2015–16 Latvian Basketball League was the 25th season of the top basketball league of Latvia. The regular season started at the end of September and will end on April 27, 2016. The Playoffs finished on May 31, 2016. VEF Rīga was the defending champion. Valmiera/ORDO won its first national championship this season. BK Valmiera
BK Valmiera, named Valmiera Ordo for sponsorship reasons, was a professional basketball club based in Valmiera, Latvia which played in the Latvian Basketball League and Baltic Basketball League. Since 2018 the club is on hiatus. In the 2015-2016 season finals, Valmiera Ordo won its first and only national championship, beating VEF Rīga in a seven-game series. Rapla KK, also known as UTILITAS RAPLA for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Rapla, Estonia. The team plays in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League and the Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML). Their home arena is the Sadolin Sports Hall. The 2015–16 Korvpalli Meistriliiga season (also known as the Alexela Korvpalli Meistriliiga for sponsorship reasons) was the 91st season of top-tier basketball in Estonia. TÜ/Rock came into the season as defending champions of the 2014–15 KML season. The Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) is the top-tier men's basketball league in Estonia. The league is organized by the Estonian Basketball Association and played under rules of basketball#International Rules of Basketball, FIBA rules. The competition was founded in 1925. From the 1998–99 season until the end of the 2001–02 season the league was organized by the Eesti Korvpalliklubide Assotsiatsioon (English: Estonian Basketball Clubs' Association). As of the 2018–19 season, Estonian-Latvian Basketball League regular season games count towards the KML standings, followed by KML Play-offs.
