BK Valmiera
BK Valmiera, named Valmiera Ordo for sponsorship reasons, was a professional basketball club based in Valmiera, Latvia which played in the Latvian Basketball League and Baltic Basketball League. Since 2018 the club is on hiatus. In the 2015-2016 season finals, Valmiera Ordo won its first and only national championship, beating VEF Rīga in a seven-game series. Valmiera is a three-time LBL bronze medal winner, attaining the distinction in 2003, 2005, and 2013, with coach Varis Krūmiņš. Valmiera is one of the main basketball centers in Latvia, providing talent for Latvian national teams, such as Dairis Bertāns, Dāvis Bertāns, Rolands Šmits, and Jānis Bērziņš. Akselis Vairogs (born November 8, 1985) is a Latvian professional basketball coach and a former player, who played the shooting guard position. Professional career Vairogs started his career in Ventspils system playing for its farm-club Ventspils Augstskola. In the 2005-06 season, he was loaned to BK Valmiera where he became the top scorer of the Baltic Basketball League averaging 20.9 points in 31 games. He has spent most of his career playing for Ventspils, but Vairogs also played for Slask Wroclaw in Poland, and Zemgale Jelgava in Latvia and JSA Bordeaux Basket in France. Roberts Štelmahers
Roberts Štelmahers (born November 19, 1974) is a Latvian retired professional basketball player, who played the point guard position. Štelmahers was a member of the Latvia national basketball team from 1992 to 2005 participating in four EuroBasket final tournaments in 1997, 2001, 2003 and 2005. He has played a total of 144 games for his national team. He was most recently the head coach of the ERA Nymburk of the National Basketball League. Playing career Štelmahers grew up with ASK Riga youth team, he made his debut with Rīgas ASK during the 1990–91 season. After that he signed Bonus Riga and played there till the 1994–95 championship. Liepāja
Liepāja (; liv, Līepõ; see #Names and toponymy, other names) is a state city in western Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea. Vytenis Čižauskas (born September 16, 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. He plays the point guard position. Career From an early age, Čižauskas played for the Žalgiris youth team. In his second season, he led the team in points and assists; as a consequence, he was promoted to Kaunas Triobet of BBL. In March 2009, he was moved to Žalgiris' main roster; however, the young point guard saw limited playing time in the LKL. Armands Šķēle (born September 4, 1983) is a former Latvian professional basketball player. He was a member of Latvian National Team. BK Ventspils
BK Ventspils is a professional basketball club that is located in Ventspils, Latvia. The club competes in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. History BK Ventspils was founded in 1994. In first years Ventspils proved themselves as relevant part of Latvian basketball, but major step came in 1997 when Ventspils Olympic Center was built. At that time Ventspils started to play in international competitions playing in 1997–98 edition of FIBA Korać Cup, which was followed by playing in FIBA Saporta Cup.
