2016 Turkish Super Cup
The 2016 Turkish Super Cup ( Turkish: TFF Süper Kupa) was the 43rd edition of the Turkish Super Cup since its establishment as ''Presidential Cup'' in 1966, the annual Turkish football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top league and cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). It took place on 13 August 2016 at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium in Konya, and was contested between Beşiktaş, the 2015–16 Süper Lig winners, and Galatasaray, the 2015–16 Turkish Cup winners. Played in front of a crowd of 33,700, the Galatasaray defeated Beşiktaş 3–0 on penalties after 1–1 tie in 120 minutes. Galatasaray's victory marked their 15th Turkish Super Cup triumph. The Turkish Super Cup ( Turkish: ''TFF Süper Kupa''), as it is currently known, is the annual super cup football match contested between the previous season's Süper Lig champions and the Turkish Cup winners in Turkey. It was originally known as the ''Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası'' (Presidential Cup) from 1966 to 1998. No competition was held between 1999 and 2005, although there was a substitute competition played under the name of Atatürk Cup in 2000. The rebranded ''TFF Süper Kupa'' is a curtain raiser for the upcoming footballing season, usually taking place in August. In case of a team achieving the double, the Turkish Cup runners-up become finalists. The current holders are 2021–22 Süper Lig winners Trabzonspor, who won against 2021–22 Turkish Cup winners Sivasspor in the 2022 edition. Necip Uysal
Necip Uysal (, born 24 January 1991) is a Turkish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Süper Lig club Beşiktaş. Uysal started his footballing career with amateur side Yıldırım Bosnaspor in 2001. He spent three years with the club before being transferred to Beşiktaş. Marcelo Antônio Guedes Filho (born 20 May 1987), commonly known as Marcelo, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers. Tolga Ciğerci (; born 23 March 1992) is a Turkish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for German club Hertha BSC.
