2016 TCR International Series Season
The 2016 TCR International Series was the second season of the TCR International Series. Stefano Comini successfully defended his title, beating his nearest challenger James Nash by 2.5 points. Craft-Bamboo Racing were crowned teams' champions beating Leopard Racing with 73 points margin, while Seat Léon TCR won the models' championship. Teams and drivers Michelin is the official tyre supplier, but Neric Wei, Tang Chi Lun and Edgar Lau used Yokohama tyres at Macau. Calendar The 2016 schedule was announced on 2 December 2015, with twelve events scheduled. Three out of these twelve rounds are to be held supporting Formula One. The calendar was subsequently modified: the Shanghai round was canceled and replaced by Buriram (originally scheduled to be held on 30 October). On 5 May the Italian round was moved to Imola. TCR International Series
The TCR International Series was an international touring car championship. The championship was promoted by World Sporting Consulting (WSC), founded by former World Touring Car Championship manager Marcello Lotti. It was marketed as a cost-effective spin-off of the WTCC, targeted at C-segment hatchbacks production-based touring cars. The title TCR follows the naming convention now used by the FIA to classify the cars that compete in touring car racing, with TC1 referring to the top tier as used by the FIA WTCC and TC2 referring to the legacy cars which principally compete in the FIA ETCC. On 6th December 2017, FIA's World Motorsport Council announced that the series will merge with World Touring Car Championship and European Touring Car Cup starting in 2018. Florian Janits (born 21 January 1998) is an Austrian racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series. Having previously competed in the ADAC Formula 4 & Formula Renault 1.6 NEC amongst others. Racing career Janits began his career in 2007 in Karting, he raced there for many seasons up until 2013. In 2013 he switched to the Formula Renault 1.6 NEC championship, he raced there for two seasons and finished 3rd in the championship in 2014, taking 5 podiums, 2 pole positions and 1 victory. Loris Hezemans (born 26 May 1997) is a Dutch professional racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 27 Ford Mustang for Team Hezeberg and part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series driving the No. 33 Toyota Supra for Reaume Brothers Racing and part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving the No. 33 for Reaume Brothers Racing. Andrea Belicchi
Andrea Belicchi (born 18 December 1976) is an Italian professional racing driver. He has competed in such series as the Porsche Supercup, Le Mans Series and FIA World Endurance Championship. He won the Russian Formula Three Championship in 2002 and Finnish Formula Three Championship in 2003 with Lukoil Racing and previously the Renault Sport Spider Elf Trophy in 1998. He also competed in Italian Formula 3000 and Formula Renault V6 Eurocup before switching to sports car racing. He was the GTS class champion in 2006 International GT Open along with Stefano Zonca. Having previously competed in the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom and Eurocup Clio amongst others. Files won both championships in 2013. Racing career Files began his career in 2009 in the Thoroughbred Sports Cars series, he raced there until 2010, winning the championship that year. Roberto Colciago (born 4 April 1968) is a racing driver from Saronno, Italy. He has spent most of his career in touring car racing – first in Super Touring and then in Super 2000 – followed by the World Touring Car Championship and currently races in the TCR International series. His major successes include two Swedish Touring Car Championship drivers' titles and the Italian Touring Car Championship title. He is married, with one daughter. Target Competition is an Italian auto racing team based in Eppan an der Weinstraße, Italy. The team is currently competing in the World Touring Car Cup and others TCR series. The team has previously raced in the TCR Europe Touring Car Series, SEAT León Eurocup and TCR International Series.
