The 2016 PGA Tour Latinoamérica was the fifth season of PGA Tour Latinoamérica, the main professional golf tour in Latin America, operated and run by the PGA Tour. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2016 season. Unofficial events The following events were sanctioned by the PGA Tour Latinoamérica, but did not carry official money, nor were wins official. Order of Merit The Order of Merit was based on prize money won during the season, calculated in U.S. dollars. The top five players on the Order of Merit earned status to play on the 2017 Web.com Tour. Developmental Series The 2016 PGA Tour Latinoamérica Developmental Series was the fourth season of the PGA Tour Latinoamérica Developmental Series, the official development tour to the PGA Tour Latinoamérica between 2013 and 2023. Nate Lashley
Nathan Clark Lashley (born December 12, 1982) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early life Lashley was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He played college golf at the University of Arizona. During his junior year, his parents and girlfriend died in a plane crash in Wyoming while flying from Sunriver, Oregon, where they had watched Lashley compete in the NCAA West Regional, to Nebraska. Professional career Lashley turned professional after graduating in 2005. He played on the Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) in 2006 but made only two cuts in 14 events. He spent the next several years playing mini-tours and selling real estate before qualifying for the PGA Tour Latinoamérica in 2015. He finished 8th on the money list in 2015 with five top-10 finishes. In 2016, he won three events, led the money list and won the Player of the Year award. Jorge Diogenes Fernández-Valdés (born 6 August 1992) is an Argentine professional golfer who currently plays on the Korn Ferry Tour. Amateur career Fernández-Valdés had a successful junior career representing Argentina at the 2009 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan and finishing runner up in the 2010 Callaway Junior World Golf Championships in the 15-17 age category at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The Brazil Open or Aberto do Brasil is an annual golf tournament held in Brazil. It was founded in 1945 and was an event on the Tour de las Américas on several occasions, most recently in 2005. It is now an event on PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Augusto Martín Núñez (born 3 November 1992) is a professional golfer from Argentina. He is a member of the Korn Ferry Tour and previously played on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Career Núñez won his first tournament on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica during the 2016 season at the Flor de Caña Open. He beat Emilio Puma Domínguez and Eric Steger in a playoff after finishing at 25 under par. The win put Núñez in first place in the Order or Merit for that season. Flor de Caña Open was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica that was played in 2016 and 2017. The tournament was sponsored by the Nicaraguan rum brand Flor de Caña and became the first professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica to be played in Nicaragua. Martin Daniel Trainer (born April 15, 1991) is an American-French professional golfer who won his first PGA Tour event at the 2019 Puerto Rico Open, which was an alternate event. Early life Trainer was born in Marseille, France. He graduated from Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California in 2009. Sebastián Vázquez (born 7 November 1990) is a Mexican professional golfer who currently plays on the Web.com Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Amateur career Vázquez had a successful amateur career winning the Mexican Amateur in 2011 and 2012. Mexico Open (golf)
The Mexican Open ( es, Abierto Mexicano de Golf), also known as the Mexico Open and Abierto Mexicano de Golf, is the national open golf tournament of Mexico. History First played in 1944 at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, it was an event on the Tour de las Américas between 2003 and 2006, being co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour from 2004 to 2006. It became a Nationwide Tour event in 2008, and was rescheduled from December to January, which resulted in no tournament in 2007.
