The 2016 MTN 8 was the 42nd edition of South Africa's annual soccer cup competition, the MTN 8. It featured the top eight teams of the Premier Soccer League at the end of the 2015–16 South African Premier Division, 2015-16 season. MTN 8
MTN 8 is the current branding for a South African soccer cup competition launched in 1972 for teams who finished in the top 8 positions of the league table of the country's preceding top-flight league (currently the DStv Premiership) season. The winners receive R 8 million and the competition's trophy, which is one of the three domestic trophies attainable by its competitors each soccer season, with the other two being the top-flight league title and the country's premier knock-out competition, the Nedbank Cup. Like the EFL Cup in England, the competition name bears its title title sponsor; from its launch until 2002, it was known as the '' BP Top 8'' and as the '' SAA Supa 8'' until 2008. Royal Bafokeng Stadium
The Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace is a football, rugby and athletics stadium in Phokeng near Rustenburg, South Africa. It was built and is managed by the Royal Bafokeng Nation. It was used as the home stadium for Premier Soccer League club Platinum Stars. The Leopards rugby team host large attendance matches during the Currie Cup at the stadium, instead of their usual home ground, Olën Park. The capacity of the stadium was increased from 38,000 to 42,000 to be able to host five first round matches and one second round match at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. For the 2010 tournament, the main west stand was upgraded and enlarged and given a new cantilever roof. Kingston Nkhatha (born 27 October 1985) is a Zimbabwean footballer who plays as a striker for Mbombela United in the South African National First Division and the Zimbabwe national team. Khama Billiat (born 19 August 1990) is a Zimbabwean professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for South African Premier Division club Kaizer Chiefs. Club career CAPS United FC Billiat first played for CAPS United FC under coach Lloyd Chitembwe in 2010. He featured for only 15 minutes at Rufaro Stadium, before migrating to South Africa. Oupa Manyisa (born 30 July 1988) is a South African footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Eastern Cape side Chippa United FC.
