The 2016 Gulf Ice Hockey Championship was the fourth Gulf Ice Hockey Championship. It took place between 28 January and 2 February 2016 in Doha, Qatar. The United Arab Emirates won the tournament after defeating Qatar in the gold medal game, claiming their fourth title of the championships. Kuwait finished third after defeating Oman in the bronze medal game. Overview The 2016 Gulf Ice Hockey Championship was organised by the Qatar Winter Sports Committee and began on 28 January 2016 in Doha, Qatar with the games being played at Villagio’s Ice Court. Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates all returned for their fourth Gulf Ice Hockey Championship's while hosts Qatar returned to compete in their second appearance of the tournament. The 2014 Gulf Ice Hockey Championship was the third Gulf Ice Hockey Championship. It took place between 6 and 12 June in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The United Arab Emirates men's national ice hockey team, United Arab Emirates won the tournament after defeating Kuwait national ice hockey team, Kuwait in the final, claiming their third title. Qatar men's national ice hockey team, Qatar finished third place after defeating Oman men's national ice hockey team, Oman in the third place game. The Gulf Ice Hockey Championship, also known as the GCC Gulf Ice Hockey Championships, is an international ice hockey competition involving countries from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The inaugural tournament took place on May 25 to May 30 in Kuwait City, Kuwait, and was organized by the Kuwait Ice Hockey Association. The championship has featured teams from six countries since its formation and currently consists of Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. United Arab Emirates Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The UAE national ice hockey team ( ar, منتخب الإمارات العربية المتحدة لهوكي الجليد) is the national men's ice hockey team of the United Arab Emirates. It is operated under the UAE Ice Sports Federation and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The Omani national ice hockey team ( ar, منتخب عمان لهوكي الجليد), nicknamed '' The Khanjars'' ( ar, الخنجر ''Al-Khanajar''), is the national ice hockey team of Oman. They are controlled by the Oman Ice Sports Committee and has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
