The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour (for players aged fifty or older) and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe. The tour's headquarters are at the Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. The European Tour was established by the British-based Professional Golfers' Association through the 1970s, and responsibility was transferred to an independent PGA European Tour organisation in 1984. The 2009 PGA Championship was the 91st PGA Championship, held August 13–16 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, a suburb southwest of Minneapolis. Yang Yong-eun, more commonly referred to as "Y.E. Yang" in the U.S., won his first Men's major golf championships, major title, three strokes ahead of runner-up Tiger Woods, a four-time champion. It marked the first time that Woods had failed to win a major he had led after 54 holes. Gary King (golfer)
Gary George King (born 17 June 1990) is an English professional golfer. King has played on the PGA EuroPro Tour since 2009, winning twice in 2015. He also played on the MENA Golf Tour in 2015, winning once. King earned a 2016 Challenge Tour card through qualifying school. He won the fifth event of the season in May, the Montecchia Open. King finished 24th in the 2016 Road to Oman, the Challenge Tour Order of Merit, and was back at qualifying school in November 2016 to try and move up to the main tour. Mark Barry Foster (born 1 August 1975) is an English professional golfer. Career Foster was born in Worksop. He won the English Amateur twice before turning professional in 1995. For the first few years as a professional he was troubled by back problems, but in 2001 he won twice on the Challenge Tour and topped the money list. Pontus Widegren (born 14 October 1990) is a Swedish professional golfer. Widegren became the youngest Club Champion at Stockholm Golf Club after winning the title aged just 13. Laurence Richard Canter (born 3 November 1989) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour and formerly played in the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Sebastian Heisele (born 8 August 1988) is a German professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Open de Bretagne on the Challenge Tour. Amateur career Heisele was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Dubai, playing golf from the age of 12. Jeff Winther (born 30 March 1988) is a Danish professional golfer. He joined the European Tour in 2016 and won the 2021 Mallorca Golf Open. Ashley John Warburton Chesters (born 25 August 1989) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Chesters won the European Amateur in 2014 and 2015, the first golfer to win it twice. These wins qualified him for the 2014 and 2015 Open Championships. In 2014 he scored 70 and 77 to miss the cut by one stroke.
