European Amateur
The European Amateur Championship is an annual amateur golf tournament played at various locations throughout Europe. It is organized by the European Golf Association and was one of the "Elite" tournaments recognized by the World Amateur Golf Ranking. It was first held in 1986. The winner receives an invitation to the next Open Championship The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Alfie Plant
Alfie Charles Plant (born 6 July 1992) is an English professional golfer. He came to prominence by winning the Silver Medal, as the leading amateur, at the 2017 Open Championship. Amateur career Plant was runner-up at the 2015 English Amateur at Alwoodley Golf Club, Leeds losing 9&7 to Joe Dean in the 36 hole final. Plant played for England in the 2016 Eisenhower Trophy were the team finished second, their best ever finish in the event. Later in 2016 he won the Lytham Trophy with a score of 284 to win by seven shots. Plant won the 2017 European Amateur at Walton Heath Golf Club. Plant was tied with two Italians, Luca Cianchetti and Lorenzo Scalise, on 273 after 72 holes. Thomas Paul Fleetwood (born 19 January 1991) is an English professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour. He has won six times on the European Tour. Lucas Justra Bjerregaard (born 14 August 1991) is a Danish professional golfer who plays the European Tour. In May 2017, playing with Thorbjørn Olesen, they won the inaugural GolfSixes, an unofficial pairs event on the European Tour. Later that year, in September, he had his first solo win on the European Tour, the Portugal Masters. Steven Brown (born 7 May 1987) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Portugal Masters. Amateur career Brown won the 2011 English Amateur. The same year he was runner-up in the European Amateur, losing to Manuel Trappel in a playoff, and runner-up to Andy Sullivan in the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship. Manuel Trappel
Manuel Trappel (born 16 September 1989) is an Austrian professional golfer who in 2011 became the first Austrian winner of the European Amateur. This title brought Trappel an invitation to the 2012 Open Championship. Trappel won his National Championship before winning the 2011 European Amateur at Halmstad Golf Club in Sweden. He won in a playoff against Walker Cup player Steven Brown. In September 2011, Trappel played in his first European Tour event, the Austrian Open, where he made the cut and finished tied for 70th place. James Frazer (golfer)
Sir James George Frazer (; 1 January 1854 – 7 May 1941) was a Scottish social anthropologist and folklorist influential in the early stages of the modern studies of mythology and comparative religion. Personal life He was born on 1 January 1854 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Katherine Brown and Daniel F. Frazer, a chemist. Frazer attended school at Springfield Academy and Larchfield Academy in Helensburgh.
