2015–16 Canisius Golden Griffins Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Canisius Golden Griffins men's basketball team represented Canisius College during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Griffins, led by fourth year head coach Jim Baron, played their home games at the Koessler Athletic Center and were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 14–19, 8–12 in MAAC play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They defeated Niagara in the first round of the MAAC tournament to advance the quarterfinals where they lost to Iona. On May 20, head coach Jim Baron announced his retirement. He finished at Canisius with a four year record of 73–59. Jim Baron
James Edward Baron (born March 20, 1954) is a retired American college basketball coach. He previously held the position of head coach at Saint Francis University, St. Bonaventure University, the University of Rhode Island and Canisius College. Playing career Baron lettered in basketball for four years (1973 to 1977) at St. Bonaventure University and helped St. Bonaventure win the 1977 National Invitation Tournament as a senior. Baron graduated from St. Bonaventure with a degree in physical education in 1977 and later earned a master's degree in counseling from the same institution in 1988. Coaching career In 1977, Baron began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Aquinas Institute in Rochester, New York. The following year, Baron became an assistant coach at NCAA Division III University of Rochester. Baron moved up to Division I as an assistant for Loyola College in Maryland for the 1979–80 season. Alkmaar
Alkmaar () is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland, about 30 km north of Amsterdam. Alkmaar is well known for its traditional cheese market. Kevin Bleeker (born 10 May 1993) is a Dutch basketball player for the Den Helder Suns of the BNXT League. Formerly, he played for Holargos, Navarar and Heroes Den Bosch. Early life Bleeker first played for the junior teams of BV Noordkop in the Netherlands. He also played for various junior squads of the Dutch, including the U18 team that played on the European Championship in Bulgaria.
