2015 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2015 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held January 19 to 25 at the Penetanguishene Curling Club in Penetanguishene, Ontario. The winning Julie Hastings team represented Ontario at the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The event marked the first tournament to exclude teams from Northern Ontario, which began to have its own entry into the Scotties, the 2015 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Qualification Process Due to the exclusion of Northern Ontario, qualifying for the provincial Scotties changed for 2015. Penetanguishene
Penetanguishene , sometimes shortened to Penetang, is a town in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the southeasterly tip of Georgian Bay. Jacqueline Harrison
Jacqueline Harrison (born July 28, 1978 in Niagara Falls, Ontario as Jacqueline Smith) is a Canadian curler from Waterdown, Ontario. Harrison currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Harrison's junior career involved reaching the semi-finals of the 1999 Ontario Juniors, winning the 1999 Ontario University championship and the provincial junior mixed championship playing third for future Olympic champion John Morris. After juniors, Harrison would win the Ontario Curling Association Tim Hortons Trophy with skip Vicky Hysop. She has also played in two mixed provincials (2008 and 2009). Harrison has played in eight provincial women's championships. In 2010, her Alliston Curling Club rink finished the round robin with a 5-4 record, and won a tie-breaker match to make the playoffs. Caitlin Romain
Caitlin Romain (born c. 1992) is a Canadian curler originally from Iroquois Falls, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Romain won the Northern Ontario bantam championship in 2009http://curlnoca.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Champions-list-per-yr.1.pdf before moving to southern Ontario to attend the University of Western Ontario. Shannon Kee
Shannon Jay (born c. 1993; ) is a Canadian curler from Sarnia, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. In 2013, Jay was a member of the Fanshawe College team, skipped by Jordan Ariss, that won the CCAA Curling National Championships. In 2014, she and her teammate then-boyfriend Chris Jay won the 2014 Ontario Mixed Doubles Challenge. Clancy Grandy (born December 27, 1990 in Burlington, Ontario) is a Canadian curler originally from Ontario. She currently skips her own team out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Career Juniors Grandy's junior career was highlighted by winning the 2011 Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships with teammates Sarah Wilkes, Laura Crocker and Lynn Kreviazuk, defeating Jasmin Thurston in the final. The team represented Ontario at the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where the finished with a 5-7 record. Later that season, Grandy skipped the Guelph Gryphons University curling team at the 2011 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, finishing with a 2-5 record. Megan Balsdon (born May 10, 1982 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. She currently plays third on Team Hollie Duncan. Career In 1998, Balsdon won the Ontario Bantam Mixed championships playing third for skip Bobby Reid. In 2001, she won the Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships playing third for Carrie Lindner. The team represented Ontario at the 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing with an 8-4 round robin record. The team would place third after losing to Prince Edward Island's Suzanne Gaudet in the semifinal game. After juniors, Balsdon joined the Kelly Cochrane rink, playing third for Cochrane until 2006. Rhonda Varnes
Rhonda Varnes (born April 14, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler. She currently skips her own team out of Winnipeg. Career Varnes grew up in Manitoba, where she won the 2001 Manitoba Juvenile Provincial Championship. As a junior curler, she played in three provincial junior championships as a skip. Her first season on the World Curling Tour was 2005–06. That season, she was the youngest skip at the 2006 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts where she led her Stonewall Curling Club rink to a 3–4 record. After the season she joined the Linda Stewart rink for one season. The team made it to the 2007 Manitoba Scotties, finishing with a 4–3 record. 2014 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held from February 1 to 9 at the Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal, Quebec. The defending champion Rachel Homan rink won their second straight title, with Homan becoming the youngest skip to ever win back-to-back championships. The team went undefeated throughout the tournament, with the team never even being forced to throw their final rock in any of their games. Teams Returning as defending champions were the Rachel Homan rink from Ottawa, representing Team Canada as a result of winning the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. None of the other qualified teams had won the Scotties. Perhaps the next most decorated team in the event was 2000 Canadian Junior champion, three-time Canada Cup champion and four-time Grand Slam event winner Stefanie Lawton and her Saskatoon rink. Rachel Homan
Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curler. Homan is a former Canadian junior champion, a three-time Canadian national champion, and the 2017 world champion, all as a skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. During her junior career, Homan competed in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, placing second in 2009 and winning the championship in 2010. She also won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Allison "Alli" Flaxey ( Nimik; born February 13, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Caledon, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Carly Howard. She is a former Canadian Mixed champion, and World Mixed Doubles bronze medallist. Career Flaxey is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a junior, she won the Manitoba Junior championships at the age of 15 in 2001 with teammates Kristin Loder, Lindsay Titheridge and Elisabeth Peters. The team finished with a 4–8 record at the 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Flaxey began curling competitively playing second for Shauna Streich. As a resident of Manitoba, she won the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship (held in Autumn 2008), playing third for Sean Grassie.
