2015 Ligurian Regional Election
The Ligurian regional election of 2015 took place on 31 May 2015. La Repubblica, 24 March 2015 Giovanni Toti of Forza Italia (2013), Forza Italia, who benefited of the decisive support of the Lega Nord Liguria, Northern League Liguria, was elected President in a three-way race with Raffaella Paita of the Democratic Party (Italy), Democratic Party, which was the largest party, and Alice Salvatore of the Five Star Movement. Giovanni Toti
Giovanni Toti (born 7 September 1968) is an Italian journalist and politician, who has been President of Liguria since June 2015. Toti was also elected to the European Parliament, following the 2014 European Parliament election. Biography Born in Viareggio in 1968, Toti grew up in Massa Carrara where the family ran a hotel, and he has lived for many years with his family and parents in Bocca di Magra, Ameglia, in the province of La Spezia, Liguria. He graduated in political science from the University of Milan. He is married to the journalist Siria Magri. During the 1980s he was a member of the youth wing of the Italian Socialist Party, led at the time by Bettino Craxi, Prime Minister from 1983 to 1987, later condemned for corruption, in the trial ''Mani Pulite''. In 1991, he started working for Studio Aperto, the news program of Silvio Berlusconi's TV channel Italia 1, of which he became director in 2010. Brothers of Italy ( it, Fratelli d'Italia, FdI) is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Italy. It is led by Giorgia Meloni, the incumbent Prime Minister of Italy and the first woman to serve in the position. Giovanni Toti of Cambiamo!, a minor centre-right party, won handily re-election with 56.1% of the vote. The Other Europe ( it, L'Altra Europa), whose full name was The Other Europe with Tsipras (''L'Altra Europa con Tsipras'', AET), was a left-wing political organisation in Italy. It took part in the 2014 European Parliament election in support of Alexis Tsipras, the candidate of the Party of the European Left for President of the European Commission. Luca Pastorino (born 30 September 1971) is an Italian politician, member of "È Viva" with Francesco Laforgia and member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies since 2013. Biography Graduated in Business Economics at the University of Genoa, Pastorino began his career in 2000 as a financial advisor, but his political career had already begun a few years earlier: from 1997 to 2006 he has been a city councilor in Bogliasco. In 2006, Pastorino has been elected Mayor of Bogliasco, supported by the centre-left coalition of The Union and held his seat for two consecutive terms, from 2006 to 2016. Communist Refoundation Party
The Communist Refoundation Party ( it, Partito della Rifondazione Comunista, PRC) is a communist political party in Italy that emerged from a split of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) in 1991. The party's secretary is Maurizio Acerbo, who replaced Paolo Ferrero in 2017. Armando Cossutta was the party's founder, while Fausto Bertinotti its longest-serving leader (1994–2008). The latter transformed the PRC from a traditional communist party into a collection of radical social movements.
