Veneto
Veneto (, ; vec, Vèneto ) or Venetia is one of the 20 regions of Italy. Its population is about five million, ranking fourth in Italy. The region's capital is Venice while the biggest city is Verona. Veneto was part of the Roman Empire until the 5th century AD. Later, after a Feudalism, feudal period, it was part of the Republic of Venice until 1797. Venice ruled for centuries over one of the largest and richest maritime republics and trade empires in the world. After the Napoleonic Wars and the Congress of Vienna, the Republic was combined with Lombardy and annexed to the Austrian Empire as the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia, until that was Italian unification, merged with the Kingdom of Italy in 1866, as a result of the Third Italian War of Independence. Left Ecology Freedom ( it, Sinistra Ecologia Libertà, SEL) was a democratic socialist political party in Italy whose bulk was formed by former members of the Communist Refoundation Party. Enrico Rossi (politician)
Enrico Rossi (born 25 August 1958) is an Italian politician and former President of Tuscany. Early life He was born into a working-class family in 1958 and in 1982 he graduated with a Degree in Philosophy with a thesis on the Hungarian philosopher Ágnes Heller. During the university, he was part of the student movement and worked as a journalist. In 1985, he joined in the Italian Communist Party. Mayor of Pontedera and Regional Assessor of Health From 1985 to 1990 he was a member of the City Council of Pontedera (an industrial town with a large Piaggio-Vespa factory), serving as Vice Mayor and Councillor for Social Policy and Urban Planning. 2015 Tuscan Regional Election
The Tuscan regional election of 2015 took place on 31 May 2015. Electoral system Tuscany uses its own legislation of 2014 to elect its Regional Council. The councillors are elected in provincial constituencies by proportional representation using the D'Hondt method. Florence constituency is further divided into 4 sub-constituencies. Preferential voting is allowed: a maximum of two preferences can be expressed for candidates of the same party list and provided the two chosen candidates are of different gender. In this system parties are grouped in alliances, supporting a candidate for the post of President of Tuscany. The candidate receiving at least 40% of the votes is elected to the post and his/her list (or the coalition) is awarded a majority in the Regional Council. If no candidate gets more than 40% of the votes, a run-off is held fourteen days after, with only the two top candidates from the first round allowed. Luca Ceriscioli (born 15 March 1966 in Pesaro) is an Italian politician. He is a former mayor of Pesaro and former President of the Marche region. Gian Mario Spacca (born 16 February 1953) is an Italian politician who was the President of the Marche Region from 2005 to 2015. Biography Gian Mario Spacca was born in Fabriano on 16 February 1953. Toti was also elected to the European Parliament, following the 2014 European Parliament election.
