The 2014 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Baluan Sholak Sports Palace, Almaty, Kazakhstan. The event took place from November 8 to 16, 2014. Mohamed Ehab Youssef Ahmed Mahmoud (born 21 November 1989), known as Mohamed Mahmoud or Mohamed Ehab, is an Egyptian weightlifter, and World Champion competing in the 77 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Early life Ehab was born in Faiyum, Egypt a city located 100 kilometers southwest from Cairo. He was introduced to weightlifting by his father. Ehab started training with a coach at the age of 8 after his brother took him to a weightlifting gym. He went on to join the Egyptian national team at the age of 15 at a body weight of 56 kg. Zhassulan Kydyrbayev ( kz, Қыдырбаев Жасұлан; born 28 September 1992) is a Kazakh weightlifter. He achieved 179 kg in snatch and 229 kg in clean and jerk, giving him a gold medal total of 408 kg at the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships in his home town, in Almaty. In 2014 Didžbalis has become the inaugural weightlifter from Lithuania to win a medal at any World Championships. Andrei Rybakou ( be, Андрэй Анатолевіч Рыбакоў) (born March 4, 1982) is a former Belarusian weightlifter, Olympian and two-time World Champion who competed in the 85 kg category. Kianoush Rostami ( fa, کیانوش رستمی, born 23 July 1991) is an Iranian Kurdish Olympic weightlifter, Olympian weightlifter. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in the 85 kg event, winning the gold medal and setting a new world record with a total lift of 396 kilograms.
