2014 Podgorica City Assembly Election
Municipal elections were held in Capital City of Podgorica and eleven other municipalities of Montenegro on 25 May 2014. Electoral system Voters in Podgorica determine the composition of the City Assembly, which in turn elects the Mayor. This means that the Mayor is only indirectly elected by the voters. Only parties which reach an electoral threshold of 3% may enter the Assembly. The Mayor may or may not be a councilor of the Assembly. Assembly's composition is subject to a 4-year election cycle. Campaign Socialist People's Party (SNP) decided to run independently under the slogan "youth, wisdom and courage", with Aleksa Bečić as ballot carrier. Miomir Mugoša
Miomir Mugoša (; born 23 July 1950) is a Montenegrin physician and politician. He has been mayor of Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, from 2000 to 2014. He also served as the president of FK Budućnost Podgorica, main soccer team in Podgorica. Biography Born in Cetinje, Mugoša completed primary school and high school in Podgorica, and graduated from the University of Belgrade's School of Medicine. He specialized in general surgery, with an emphasis on hepatobiliary surgery. Mugoša worked in the emergency service of the health center and at the Surgery Clinic of the Clinical Center in Montenegro. Albanian Coalition
The Albanian Coalition ( sq, Koalicioni Shqiptar; ') is the name of several Albanian minority pre-election coalitions in Montenegro. Liberal Party of Montenegro ( cnr, Либерална партија Црне Горе, ''Liberalna partija Crne Gore'', LP) is a liberal political party in Montenegro. Initially, the party advocated liberalism and the bringing down of Milo Đukanović's rule, saw it as authoritarian and undemocratic. It had continued the fight against what it saw as the DPS' authoritarianism that the Liberal Alliance of Montenegro pursued since its foundation in 1990. New Serb Democracy (, NSD; officially abbreviated NOVA) is a Serbian nationalist right-wing political party in Montenegro, formed on 24 January 2009 as a merger between Serb People's Party and the People's Socialist Party of Montenegro.
