2018 Podgorica City Assembly Election
City Assembly elections were held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, on 27 May 2018. Parties and coalitions ran for 61 seats in the Assembly, with 3% election threshold required to win seats. Electoral system Voters in Podgorica determine the composition of the City Assembly, which in turn elects the Mayor of Podgorica, Mayor. This means that the Mayor is only indirectly elected by the voters. Only parties which reach an electoral threshold of 3% may enter the Assembly. Ivan Vuković ( cyrl, Иван Вуковић; born 17 September 1984) is a Montenegrin politician serving as the mayor of Podgorica since 2018. Before taking office, he worked as an Assistant Professor and Vice-Dean for International Cooperation at the Faculty of Political Science in Podgorica. Early life Ivan Vukovic was born on September 17, 1984 in Podgorica, where he finished both elementary school and high school. Montenegrin (party)
Montenegrin ( cnr, Црногорска / ''Crnogorska''; CG) was a minor national liberal political party in Montenegro, founded in 2017 as the successor to Montenegrin Democratic Union (CDU). The party had no seats in the Parliament of Montenegro, and never contest the national-level parliamentary election. It had 3 members of the Budva local parliament, elected in 2020 from the DPS-led list. Liberal Party Of Montenegro
Liberal Party of Montenegro ( cnr, Либерална партија Црне Горе, ''Liberalna partija Crne Gore'', LP) is a liberal political party in Montenegro. Initially, the party advocated liberalism and the bringing down of Milo Đukanović's rule, saw it as authoritarian and undemocratic. It had continued the fight against what it saw as the DPS' authoritarianism that the Liberal Alliance of Montenegro pursued since its foundation in 1990. However, the party changed its discourse and became a junior coalition partner of DPS both on local and national level since 2006, when Đukanović's regime declared independence of Montenegro. The Serb List ( sr, / ) was a minor Serbian nationalist and political party in Montenegro, established on 5 January 2012. Ideology The party supports the far-right Serbian Radical Party of Vojislav Šešelj in Serbia, and the view that Montenegro should return to a union with Serbia as two brotherly states. DEMOS (acronym of Demokratski savez, ; cnr, Демократски савез, ДЕМОС) is a centrist to centre-right political party in Montenegro. Party founder and current leader is Miodrag Lekić, who is also serving as the party's single MP in the Parliament of Montenegro.
