2014 NASCAR Toyota Series
The 2014 NASCAR Toyota Series was the eighth season of the NASCAR Toyota Series, and the eleventh season organized by NASCAR Mexico. It began with the Toyota 120 at Phoenix International Raceway on February 28, and ended with the Puebla 240 at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed in Puebla, on November 9. Rodrigo Peralta entered the season as the defending Drivers' Champion. Abraham Calderón won his first series championship at Puebla, finishing nine points ahead of Rubén García Jr.; both drivers failed to win any races during the season, but were able to finish strongly in the five-race Desafío, which concluded the season. Calderón achieved eleven top-ten finishes, while Garcia Jr. took ten top-ten finishes. Rubén Rovelo finished third in the championship, eleven points in arrears of Calderón, winning races at Aguascalientes and Tuxtla Gutiérrez. The NASCAR Mexico Series (formerly NASCAR Corona Series and other names) is a NASCAR series in Mexico. It is the most prestigious stock car racing series in the country. Origins (Desafío Corona) The Desafío Corona was established in 2004 by NASCAR Mexico, a joint-venture between NASCAR and Mexican entertainment group OCESA, with the idea of developing stock car racing in Mexico, and fueling a transition from the country's historically Open-wheel car racing fan base to stock car racing. Enrique Contreras III (born May 22, 1992) is a Mexican professional stock car racing driver. He has competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and most notably, NASCAR Mexico Series. Mario Domínguez (born December 1, 1975, in Mexico City) is a Mexican racing driver. He has competed in the CART and CCWS Champ Car series and later the IndyCar Series. Early career Domínguez first began racing in 1987 driving go-karts. He won three go-karting championships and represented Mexico in the World Karting Championships in Spain (1989), Italy (1990) and France (1991). He then raced in numerous developmental series in Mexico, eventually winning the Mexican Formula Three Championship in 1998 and moving to the American Indy Lights series full-time in 1999, finishing 8th in the championship in 2000 and 4th in the series' final year, 2001. Carlos Contreras (born June 8, 1970) is a Mexican professional stock car racing driver and crew chief. He was the first Mexico-born driver racing full-time in any NASCAR national series. José Luis Ramírez (born May 8, 1979) is a NASCAR driver. He has attempted to become the fourth Mexican people, Mexican driver to run a Nextel Cup race after Pedro Rodríguez (racing driver), Pedro Rodríguez, Al Loquasto, and Jorge Goeters.
