2014 Brazil Open Grand Prix
The 2014 Brasil Open Grand Prix was the eleventh grand prix badminton tournament of the 2014 BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix. The tournament was held in Gymnasium of Comissão de Desporto da Aeronáutica (CDA), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 5 until 10 August 2014 and had a total purse of $50,000. This tournament organized by Confederação Brasileira de Badminton (CBBd), and sanctioned from the BWF. The sponsor of this tournament was the Brazilian Air Force, and Yonex. 130 players from 27 countries competed at this tournament. Phillip Hung Chew (born May 16, 1994) is an American badminton player. He won two gold medals in men's and mixed doubles at the Badminton at the 2015 Pan American Games, 2015 Pan American Games. Karin Schnaase (born 14 February 1985) is a German badminton player. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She placed 2nd in her group during group play and did not advance to the next round. She is well known for the broken shoe incident with Laura Sarosi at the 2016 European Badminton Championships, where Sarosi handed her spare shoe to make Schnaase able to continue the match. Beiwen Zhang (; born 12 July 1990) is a Chinese-born American badminton player who is a singles specialist. Career Zhang was born in China and moved to Singapore at the age of 13 in 2003 and played with the Singapore National Team until 2012. In 2007, Zhang took up Singapore citizenship.
