2013 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2013 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships was a senior international figure skating competition in the 2012–13 season. It was held at the Osaka Municipal Central Gymnasium in Osaka, Japan on February 6–11. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Qualification The competition was open to skaters from a non-European member nation of the International Skating Union who reached the age of 15 before July 1, 2012. The corresponding competition for European skaters was the 2013 European Figure Skating Championships. Unlike the European event, national associations at Four Continents are all allowed up to three entries in each discipline, regardless of how their skaters placed at the previous year's event. 2012–13 Figure Skating Season
The 2012–13 figure skating season began on July 1, 2012, and ended on June 30, 2013. During this season, elite skaters from men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance competed on the International Skating Union (ISU) Championship level at the 2013 European, Four Continents, World Junior, and World Championships. They also competed in elite events such as the Grand Prix series and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating in the Grand Prix Final. International Figure Skating
Figure skating is a sport with participants across the world. Originally based in North America and Europe, the sport has experienced a major expansion in the countries of East Asia. Amélie Lacoste
Amélie Lacoste (born December 17, 1988) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2010 Skate Canada International bronze medallist and the 2012 Canadian national champion. Her highest placement at an ISU Championship was 7th at the 2010 and 2012 Four Continents Championships. Career Lacoste won the novice national title in 2003 and the junior national title in 2005. She also competed on the Junior Grand Prix series. She finished 5th in her senior national debut at the 2006 Canadian Championships. She briefly tried pair skating in 2007. Andrei Rogozine
Andrei Rogozine (russian: Андрей Рогозин; born 29 January 1993) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2011 World Junior champion, 2010 JGP Final bronze medallist, and 2013 Canadian national bronze medallist. Personal life Andrei Rogozine was born January 29, 1993, in Moscow, Russia. His family moved to Canada when he was five. He attended Richmond Green Secondary School in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He moved to Newmarket, Ontario, in 2011 and now lives in Ottawa. Career Rogozine started skating when he was six years old, instructed by Inga Zusev. He began learning at the Forest Hill Skating Club. He was inspired by Alexei Yagudin, the 2002 Olympic champion. Gregory Merriman, also known as Greg, (born 3 October 1988) is an Australian former competitive ice dancer. With partner Danielle O'Brien, he is a six-time Australian senior national champion and three-time junior national champion. They have competed at the World Championships and Four Continents Championships since 2008, and have competed at three World Junior Championships. They became the first Australian ice dancers to reach the free dance at a World Championships and the second Ice Dance couple from Australia to compete at the Winter Olympics. With partner Gregory Merriman, she is a six-time Australian senior national champion and three-time junior national champion. Chantelle Kerry (born 9 June 1996) is an Australian figure skater. As an ice dancer with Andrew Dodds, she is a two-time Australian national champion and has competed at two Four Continents Championships. Earlier in her career, she competed in ladies' singles. Brooklee Han (born July 6, 1995) is an American-Australian retired figure skater who represented Australia in ladies' singles. She is the 2018 CS Alpen Trophy bronze medalist, the 2013 Volvo Open Cup champion, the 2013 Australian national champion, and a five-time Australian national silver medalist (2012, 2014–2018). He is the 2016 Slovenian national champion and qualified for the free skate at the 2016 European Championships. Brendan Kerry (born 18 November 1994) is an Australian figure skater. He is the 2017 CS Ondrej Nepela Trophy bronze medalist, the 2017 CS Lombardia Trophy bronze medalist, the 2019 Toruń Cup champion, the 2016 Egna Spring Trophy champion, and an eight-time Australian national champion (2011, 2013–2019). Free Skating
The free skating segment of figure skating, also called the free skate and the long program, is the second of two segments of competitions, skated after the short program. Its duration, across all disciplines, is four minutes for senior skaters and teams, and three and one-half minutes for junior skaters and teams.
