2013 Belarusian Premier League (women)
The 2013 Belarusian Premier League was the 23rd season of top-tier football in Belarus. It began in April 2013 and ended in November 2013. BATE Borisov are the defending champions, having won their 9th league title the previous year. Format change Starting with this season, the league will be played in two phases. The first phase will consist of a regular double-round robin tournament between 12 teams. The best six teams will qualify for the championship round, which will determine the champions and the participants for the 2014–15 European competitions. The remaining six teams play in the relegation group, where the top four teams will secure places in the 2014 competition, the fifth team (11th overall) will play a two-legged relegation play-off against the runners-up of the First League, and the sixth team (12th overall) will be automatically relegated. Belarusian Premier League
The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. The top two teams from the Belarusian First League automatically win promotion to the Premier League. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Traktor Minsk. History The stadium was built in the 1950s. Its original name was Krasnoye Znamya Stadium, before it was attached to Minsk Tractor Works and renamed to Traktor Stadium in 1976. Haradski Stadium ( be, Гарадскі стадыён, russian: Городской стадион; literally "City Stadium") is a multi-purpose stadium in Barysaw, Belarus. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of BATE Borisov before they moved to the Borisov Arena in 2014. The stadium has a maximum holding capacity of 5,402 people. Barysaw ( be, Барысаў, ) or Borisov (russian: Борисов, ) is a city in Belarus near the Berezina River in the Minsk Region 74 km north-east from Minsk. Its population is around 145,000. FC Gorodeya (, ''FK Haradzeya'') was a Belarusian football club based in Gorodeya, Nesvizh Raion, Minsk Oblast. History The team was founded in 2004 as a futsal club. They played in the Minsk Oblast championship and later in the Belarusian futsal championship and Cup. In 2007, they debuted in the Minsk Oblast football championship as well as the Belarusian Cup. In 2008, they joined the Belarusian Second League, and after winning the 2010 season, the team made its debut in the First League in 2011. 2012 Belarusian First League
The 2012 Belarusian First League is the 22nd season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2012. Team changes from 2011 season The winners of last season ( Slavia Mozyr) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by last-placed team of 2011 Belarusian Premier League table (Dnepr Mogilev). The runners-up of last season (Partizan Minsk) won the promotion/relegation play-off against Vitebsk (11th-placed Premier League team). Partizan Minsk were thus promoted to Premier League and replaced in the First League by Vitebsk. Two teams that finished at the bottom of 2011 season table ( Belcard Grodno and Baranovichi) relegated to the Second League. They were replaced by two best teams of 2011 Second League ( Bereza-2010 and Lida). Klechesk Kletsk withdrew from the league due to lack of financing and joined Second League.
