2012–13 Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1
The 2012–13 Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 (''Tunisian Professional League'') season was the 87th season of top-tier football in Tunisia. The competition began on 10 November 2012 and is scheduled to conclude in June 2013. The defending champions from the previous season are Espérance Sportive de Tunis. Team and format changes Last season two teams were relegated as usual (AS Gabès and ES Beni-Khalled), with two teams promoted from the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 2 to replace them (Olympique du Kef and Stade Gabèsien). However, in a change from previous seasons, the league is now split into two groups of 8 teams. The Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 (; ar, الرابطة المحترفة الأولى لكرة القدم) was previously called the Tunisian National Championship between 1956 and 1994. is the top division football tournament in Tunisia under the organization of the Tunisian Football Federation. The first edition was held during the French protectorate of Tunisia, the 1907 season, under the auspices of the Federation of Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques, and it was played in a knockout system, and the first official match in the history of the tournament was played on 9 June 1907. Stade El Menzah is a multi-purpose stadium, located in the north of Tunis, Tunisia. History Stade Vélodrome is the historical stadium that preceded Stade El Menzah. It was built in 1927 in the same location and became the stadium of US Tunis and Italia de Tunis. It had a capacity of 5,000 spectators.
