The 2011 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season was the 19th Porsche Supercup season. It began on 8 May at Turkey's Istanbul Park and finished on 13 November at the Yas Marina Circuit in the United Arab Emirates, after eleven races. Porsche Supercup
The Porsche Supercup (officially known as Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, known as Porsche Michelin Supercup prior to 2007) is an international one-make sports car racing series supporting the FIA Formula One World Championship organized by Porsche Motorsport GmbH. Porsche Supercup drivers compete in identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. On average, 24 race cars take part in each race. Most circuits visited by the series are European, although circuits in Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, the United States and Mexico have been included in the calendar as well. History Since 1993 the Porsche Michelin Supercup has run as support to the FIA Formula One World Championship. Nicki Thiim
Nicki Thiim (born 17 April 1989 in Sønderborg, Denmark) is a Danish professional racing driver, and Aston Martin Racing works driver in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Biography After competing in karting, Thiim won the 2006 Danish Formula Ford Championship. In 2007 he switched to touring car racing, where he finished 5th in the Seat León Supercopa Germany and raced a BMW 3 Series in the Danish Touring Car Championship. The driver won the 2008 Seat León Supercopa Germany with 8 wins in 16 races. Thiim advanced to the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 2009, finishing 5th. He also won the SP3T class at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring driving a works Volkswagen Scirocco. Thiim finished 4th in the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, collecting a win and four podiums. Alessandro Zampedri
Alessandro Zampedri (born 3 October 1969 in Brescia) is an Italian race car driver. He started three Indianapolis 500s (1995, 1996, and 1997). Racing career Zampedri was seriously injured in the 1996 Indianapolis 500, suffering severe foot and leg injuries on the last lap of the race. While running fourth, Zampedri was collected in a crash with Roberto Guerrero and Eliseo Salazar. Zampedri's car became airborne and crashed into the fence at the head of the main straightaway. The car came to rest near the pit entry. A portion of Zampedri's left foot and three toes had to be amputated as a result of the accident. He returned to Indianapolis in 1997, but he struggled, due to engine failure during the formation laps. In 1999, he returned to racing in Europe in the Porsche Supercup and became champion in 2005, taking his only victory in the series at Circuit de Catalunya. Patrick Huisman (born 23 August 1966) is a Dutch auto racing driver. He won the Porsche Supercup one-make sports car series four times between 1997 and 2000, and resulted second in 2005, third in 1996 and 2006, and fourth in 1995, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Sebastiaan Bleekemolen
Sebastiaan Bleekemolen (born 9 August 1978 in Haarlem) is a Dutch racing driver that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving for the family-owned Team Bleekemolen in the No. 69 Ford Mustang in the Elite 1 class. His brother Jeroen and father Michael are also racing drivers. His father is a former Formula One driver, who has competed with RAM and ATS. Sebastiaan won the Benelux and Dutch Formula Ford 1800 championships in 1996, but decided early in his career formula racing was not his thing and already started driving sports cars and touring cars from 1997. Since 2002 he has been very successful in sports car racing and touring car racing. He became the Dutch Renault Clio Cup champion three times, winning the championship in 2002, 2004 and 2011. Sean Edwards (racing Driver)
Sean Lawrence Guy Edwards (6 December 1986 − 15 October 2013) was an English professional racing driver, whose career highlight was winning as co-driver the 2013 Nurburgring 24 Hours. He died as a passenger in a private testing incident in October 2013, at Queensland Raceway in Australia. Early and personal life Edwards was born in London on 6 December 1986, the son of racing driver Guy Edwards. He was educated at Wellington College and Cherwell College in Oxford. Jeroen Bleekemolen
Jeroen Bleekemolen (born 23 October 1981 in Heemstede) is a Dutch professional racing driver. In the Chrysler Viper GTS-R he drove in the FIA GT Championship, with great success. He competed in the very competitive German Formula Three Championship and drove a number of times at the Masters of Formula 3 at Circuit Zandvoort, the unofficial F3 World Championship. Together with Opel he raced in the DTM. In 2005 Bleekemolen won the ELF BRL V6 championship. Jeroen Bleekemolen was the first driver for A1 Team Netherlands in the A1 Grand Prix series after replacing Jos Verstappen. Bleekemolen was a backup driver in the first season. Project 1 Motorsport, formerly known as tolimit Motorsport, is a German auto racing team founded by Hans-Bernd Kamps and Jörg Michaels in 1993 to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and later the Porsche Supercup. Based in Lohne, the team has won eighteen championships in the two Porsche series, and has expanded in 2018 to the FIA World Endurance Championship. Kévin Estre (born 28 October 1988) is a French professional racing driver. He is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Porsche in the GTE PRO class. Career Karting Born in Lyon, Estre began his racing career in karting, contesting the 2001 French Cadet Championship and taking his first title. In 2004, he won the European ICA Championship, beating Jon Lancaster in the title competition.
