The 2009–10 Kazakhstan Hockey Championship was the 18th season of the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship, the top level of ice hockey in Kazakhstan. Eight teams participated in the league, and Saryarka Karagandy won the championship. The Pro Hokei Ligasy formerly known as ''Republic of Kazakhstan Open Ice Hockey Championship'' ''( kk, Шайбалық хоккей бойынша Қазақстан Республикасының ашық чемпионаты, russian: Открытый Чемпионат Республики Казахстан по хоккею с шайбой)'', commonly referred to as ''Kazakh Hockey Championship'', is an annual ice hockey award and national title, bestowed to the winning ice hockey team in Kazakhstan, founded in 1992. On August 9, 2015, a 12,000-seat and 86,000-square-metre Ice Palace was opened in the Kazakh capital of Astana. The complex includes an ice arena, an ice hockey academy and 50-metre Olympic and artistic swimming pools. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. In ice hockey, two opposing teams use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot a closed, vulcanized, rubber disc called a " puck" into the other team's goal. Each goal is worth one point. Barys Astana-2
Nomad Hockey Club ( kk, Nomad Hokkej Kluby), commonly referred to as Nomad Astana, is a farm team of the Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Founded in 2007 as Barys Astana–2, the team changed its name to Nomad Astana in 2013. Formerly a member of the Supreme Hockey League, Nomad currently play in the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship. History The team formed in 2007 to play in the Pervaya Liga. They finished in 14th place in the Ural–Western Siberia Zone. Next season, they joined the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship. Squaded by junior players, they finished in last place in their first season of play. Next season, they qualified for the playoffs for the first time. Strengthened by players from the Barys Astana, they reached finals. However they lost to Beibarys Atyrau in four games in series.
