2009 Nationwide Tour
The 2009 Nationwide Tour was the 20th Nationwide Tour season. It ran from February 5 to October 25. The season consisted of 29 official money golf tournaments; six of which were played outside of the United States. Michael Sim
Michael Sim (born 23 October 1984) is an Australian professional golfer. Amateur career Sim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and moved to Australia when he was 5 years old. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 2002. He was the top ranked amateur in the world in 2005 having won four titles during the year including the Sunnehanna Amateur and the Monroe Invitational. He turned professional at the end of the year. Professional career Sim played on the Nationwide Tour in 2006, and qualified for the PGA Tour by virtue of a 19th-place finish on the end of season money list, aided by a win at PalmettoPride Classic. After a late start to the 2007 season, caused by a stress fracture of the spine, he finished 169th on the PGA Tour money list. HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship
The New Zealand PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It is currently known for sponsorship reasons as the SEC NZ PGA Championship. History The tournament been played since 1909, with some gap periods. It was originally a match play event and switched to stroke play in 1965. Major championship winners who have claimed the New Zealand PGA title include Sir Bob Charles, Peter Thomson, Kel Nagle, and Tony Jacklin. The event is also notable for Masashi Ozaki's lone international win. Sponsorship problems caused the tournament to be terminated after the 1987 event. Kevin Johnson (golfer)
Kevin James Johnson (born April 25, 1967) is an American professional golfer. College career Johnson was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He attended Clemson University and was Clemson's first three-time All-American in golf (he was a third-team choice in 1987 as a sophomore, then made first-team as a junior and second-team as a senior). He was inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 2002. He also won the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 1987. Professional career Johnson has made about 80% of his career earnings while playing on the Web.com Tour, where he has won six times, twice during the 2009 season. BMW Charity Pro-Am
The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It is currently played at Thornblade Club (host course) in Greer, South Carolina and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. From 1992 to 2000, the event was played at Verdae Greens Golf Club in Greenville. Garth Mulroy
Garth David Mulroy (born 8 July 1978) is a South African professional golfer. Amateur career Mulroy was born in Durban. He attended college in the United States at North Carolina State University, where he was an NCAA Division I All-American. He turned professional in 2002. Professional career Mulroy has predominantly tried to make his way as a professional in the United States, and has collected several victories on various mini-tours. Patrick Sheehan (golfer)
Patrick Sheehan (born August 9, 1969) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour. Sheehan was born in Providence, Rhode Island. While at the University of Hartford he was teammates with other future PGA Tour golfers Tim Petrovic and Jerry Kelly. Stonebrae Classic
The Ellie Mae Classic was a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It was first played in 2009 at TPC Stonebrae (previously known as Stonebrae Country Club), in Hayward, California. The inaugural event had a prize fund of $600,000 with $108,000 going to the winner, Australian Michael Sim who shot a final round 64 to triumph by 6 strokes. The 2010 event had the same purse and American Kevin Chappell won his first Nationwide Tour event. Daniel Chopra of Sweden won the 2011 event, shortened to 54 holes after fog delayed and then canceled the fourth round. The event was not played in 2013 due to construction of a new clubhouse, but returned in 2014.
